On January 22, in Copenhagen, the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 matches for Counter-Strike 2 kicked off. This marks the first stage of the BLAST Premier tournament series featuring exclusively partner teams. This year, the number of participating teams increased from 12 to 16, leading organizers to modify the format of Spring Groups 2024.

Participants of Spring Groups 2023 were divided into three groups. The top teams from these groups advanced directly to the Spring Final, while the others competed for this privilege in the Play-In stage. The less successful teams went on to the Spring Showdown tournaments for Europe and North America. In 2024, the Spring Groups format remained largely the same, but the number of groups increased to four. Consequently, more participants now advance directly to the Spring Final, and the Play-In stage is shortened by one round. Another interesting change is that organizers abandoned the regional division of the Showdown series into Europe and North America. Now, all teams will compete in a single tournament.

Spring Groups 2024 Interim Results

The BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 matches have not concluded yet, but some interim results can already be noted. Specifically, Heroic, Complexity, Team Falcons, and Team Spirit are without a direct slot in the Spring Final. These teams failed to secure a top 2 position in their respective groups.

When it comes to viewer statistics, the most popular match of Spring Groups 2024, from January 22 to 25, was the series between Natus Vincere and G2 Esports, with 298.5K Peak Viewers. Slightly fewer viewers tuned in for the Russian derby between Cloud9 and Virtus.pro, as well as the showdown between Team Spirit and Team Liquid.

It's worth noting that last year, the peak online viewership for BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023 broadcasts reached 398.2 thousand viewers. At that time, the most-watched match was the encounter between G2 Esports and Natus Vincere. The results of BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 will be known by January 28. You can follow the progress and viewer statistics of the tournament on the coverage page.
