Highlights of the World Final 2024 & BLAST Premier 2024 season

Highlights of the World Final 2024 & BLAST Premier 2024 season

Nov 06, 2024 8 min read

Concluding with the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024, BLAST Premier enjoyed a record-breaking season this year. After reaching over 900,000 concurrent viewers during the Fall Final, BLAST Premier finally made its second entry to the top 20 most popular Counter-Strike 2 events, following the Fall Finals 2021. Although the World Final didn’t enjoy the same sky-high viewership, it nevertheless brought 8 of the world’s best teams together to host an elite esports event.

For those interested in the major viewership statistics of the World Final, we explored this in detail in our recap article, “BLAST Premier World Final 2024 struggled to match the season’s viewership highs without NAVI”.

Esports Charts, in collaboration with betting brand GG.BET, presents some highlights of the players and teams who were the beating heart of this World Final. We also thank DATA.BET, a leading provider of esports betting solutions, for their support in gathering game statistics. We have collated gameplay statistical highlights for players and teams, nicher viewership results, as well as Twitch Chat data, and a  viewership overview of the entire BLAST Premier 2024 season.

Players & Teams Highlights at the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024

Across our selected gameplay statistics, the top teams at the event were well represented. Event champions G2 Esports were well represented by M0nesy, Malbsmb, and newcomer Snax. Although Snax is new to G2 Esports, his Counter-Strike career is well over a decade old, and his experience paid dividends throughout the event. The Polish player earned 5 kills while blinded with his intuition, and also tied for most clutches during the tournament.

M0nesy earned the most AWP frags during the event, even outperforming Team Spirit’s sh1ro, who had much more game time than the young G2 star. Other top teams like Team Vitality were represented by Spinx, the player with the most aces throughout the event, and Astralis’ device was in strong form, also tying first for clutches.

Chopper of Team Spirit recorded the most total First Deaths through the event; the in-game leader is notorious for preferring to die first, and then lead his team from a spectating position. His teammate donk also recorded many initial deaths, but he also recorded the most total First Kills of any player, more often than not winning the opening duel. Riflers like NiKo and flameZ recorded opening kill-to-death ratios of close to 1, whereas AWPers like sh1ro and m0nesy enjoyed strong kill-heavy ratios.

Teams Highlights at the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024

Instead of highlighting individual players, take a step back and see how teams as a whole performed. Team Vitality and MOUZ were the only two teams at the event to successfully convert any Eco Rounds. Vitality needed 10 tries to secure one successful conversion, and MOUZ only had 1 eco round victory out of 15. Team Spirit even failed to convert any of their total 18 eco rounds.

Speaking of Team Spirit, they were right on the edge along with MOUZ. Both of these teams recorded two maps at the event where more than 24 total rounds were played, meaning either a game went the full possible length, or into overtime. Half of the teams at the event did not even see a map go the full 24 rounds during the World Final 2024.

G2 Esports were a dominant force on pistol rounds; the European organization won 82% of their total pistol rounds, winning 18 times across 11 maps. Generally, the average win-rate for pistol rounds was about 50%, with NAVI being a surprising outlier with only 20% of their pistol rounds successfully won.

Most Popular Matches of the World Final 2024

Most Popular Matches of the World Final 2024

Across the top matches of the event, there are some parallels between the most-watched and most-bet-on matches. Of course, the grand final shared the top slot across both categories, but Team Spirit were much better represented in the viewership category, rather than among bettors

Generally, G2 Esports was dominant across both viewership and betting. The European squad appeals to a wide English-speaking audience, which seems more likely to put their money where there mouth is, rather than other major audiences for Counter-Strike. While Team Spirit and NAVI both appeared in the bets section, fans may have favored FaZe to take it home.

Throughout these exciting matches at the event, Twitch Chats were alive with discussion about the action, hero plays, and sometimes, to laugh at someone’s misfortune.

G2 Snax was the hottest topic for Twitch Chats

Most Popular Players of the World Final 2024 in Twitch Chat

Snax was the most-discussed player among Twitch Chats throughout the event, with 10.9K total mentions. According to our data, the words most often used alongside Snax included “gigachad”, “pog”, and “goat”. Counter-Strike fans were quick to praise the Polish player with their Gen-Z slang, and other G2 members, too.

“Cinema”, a colloquial slang word to describe peak entertainment or media, was used to describe Snax and TaZ: referring to the of gameplay from Snax, and the tactics of his former teammate, now coach. A lengthy copypasta, “who is snax ? to the blind, he is the light. to the hungry, he is bread [etc.]”, was used by numerous fans throughout the event. Generally, G2 players were massively popular, but their newest player Snax managed to stand ahead of his star teammates NiKo and M0nesy.

Team Vitality were the only other team able to match G2 here, with their mentions largely coming from French Twitch Chats. We can tell these messages are coming from French Chats as other French words were mostly used in combination with the names of JACKS and ZywOo. The passionate French audience was not as sizeable as G2’s international English-speaking one, but Vitality’s fans made up for their smaller size with massive excitement in Chat

BLAST Premier 2024 gathered over 62.5M Hours of Watch Time

BLAST Premier 2024 season viewership results

With the World Final 2024 officially behind us, the BLAST Premier 2024 season is at an end. The series set a new series record at over 900K+ peak concurrent viewers for the Fall Final, and in total, BLAST Premier 2024 accumulated 62.55M Hours Watched. This amount of watch time makes the series one of the most-watched esports series of the year.

The series also helped Counter-Strike esports to set some records for either minor languages on large platforms, or smaller audiences on major platforms. BLAST.TV reached a new English-language record throughout the year, as did Naver’s CHZZK. The platform has been slowly expanding across the esports sphere since its entry to the Korean livestreaming market, and BLAST Premier now holds the viewership record for Korean-language Counter-Strike fans there

NAVI was the most bet-on team for the entire year, although the Ukrainian organization suffered an early exit from the World Final event. Other popular and highly-competitive organizations like G2 Esports, FaZe Clan, and Team Vitality were all relatively close in contention here. Whereas Team Spirit was the only other Eastern Europe entry to the ranking.

With such a successful year behind it, the BLAST Premier series will be looking towards new heights in 2025. As Counter-Strike 2’s esports scene continues to grow and find new fans across the world, BLAST will continue to provide high quality events, production, and excitement for these esports fans.
