Community casting return puts CBLOL Split 1 2024 on course for series records

The CBLOL Split 1 2024 began on January 20 at the CBLOL Studio in São Paulo with ten sides vying for the first prominent regional crown of the new season. There was a massive rise in the crucial metrics for the first week of this A-tier event compared to last year’s Spring Split, and there's a good chance it will end as one of the most popular competitions in this Brazilian League of Legends series.

At the end of Week 1, where every side had played two games each, FURIA Esports and Fluxo were atop the table. Intriguingly, all ten teams had similar 1-1 records come the last game on Sunday, with the likes of LOUD, paiN Gaming, and Vivo Keyd Stars placed in the mid-to-bottom part of the table.

The CBLOL Split 1 2024 racked up 246.5K Peak Viewers during the Week 1, Day 2 meeting between LOUD and paiN Gaming — 51.08% better than the CBLOL Split 1 2023. As a clash between two of the most followed sides in the region, there was no shortage of hype around their meeting. The latter came out 1:0 victors to dampen the spirits of fans of its more popular opponent, owned by PlayHard — the famous YouTuber — alongside entrepreneurs Jean Ortega and Mathew Ho.

These two were also the most viewed sides across Saturday and Sunday, with fans interested in seeing how their new additions would fare at the CBLOL Split 1 2024. This massive interest in seeing how all the ten updated rosters would stack up also helped this competition hit 1.9M Hours Watched and 157.5K Average Viewers over 12 and a half hours of airtime, which were 39.7% and 44.4% higher than last year’s inaugural split.

More importantly, community casting was again available for this LoL tournament, meaning the Week 1 viewership numbers shot through the roof compared to the last two splits. Hence, instead of the usual three official channels across the two main platforms (Twitch and YouTube), 18 total handles live-streamed the action. It allowed viewers to watch the matches as they happened on their favorite streamers' accounts, helping attract a much larger crowd.

The largest contributor to this success was Baiano — the former pro who now owns and creates content for Ilha das Lendas — the most watched and popular content creator over the weekend. He founded this Brazilian streaming group and program in partnership with Omelete Company, the biggest and most relevant pop culture brand in Brazil, in its own words.

There's a good chance audience records for the CBLOL will be created in the first split of the new season. League of Legends fans are already arriving in droves to watch their favorite teams and streamers, and it remains to be seen who wins this $102K prize pool event and books a place in the Mid-Season Invitational 2024.
