Statistics of Hearthstone Masters Tour 2021 — stability or stagnation?
There were six tournaments of the Hearthstone Masters Tour series in 2021 — Ironforge, Orgrimmar, Dalaran, Silvermoon, Stormwind and Undercity. Unlike the Grandmasters series, lesser-known players also took part in these events, gaining the opportunity to play versus the best. In the new article, Esports Charts will discuss the statistics of the current season and compare it with the previous season.
Statistics of Hearthstone Masters Tour 2021
The last tournament of Hearthstone Masters Tour 2021 was Undercity, which took place in mid-November. The Chinese cyberathlete XiaoT became the champion, with this victory being the first one in his esports career. He was awarded $25K in prize money.
The top 4 also included DragonMan, Tianming, and ZloyGruzin from Russia, who received $17K, $10K, and $10K, respectively. In addition to them, another 196 people took prizes at the event, being awarded from $500 to $6K in prize money.
Undercity spent 22 hours on the air and amassed 175K Hours Watched. Its average number of viewers was 7.9K Average Viewers, and the peak was 10.6K Peak Viewers. The main audience of Undercity was composed of the viewers of English-language broadcasts, which made a total of 6.7K Peak Viewers.

Compared to previous championships in the series, Undercity showed the weakest statistics. However, despite the low Hours Watched and Peak Viewers indicators, the tournament was able to overtake Stormwind and Ironforge in terms of Average Viewers by 7.3% and 5%, respectively.
The decrease in viewer activity was caused not only by a significant decline in the interest of players and viewers in Hearthstone but also by the platform chosen for streaming. In 2020, YouTube received exclusive rights to broadcast CCG tournaments, but the game’s audience (especially from Asia) was not ready to switch to a new platform for themselves. Even the YouTube Drops system, which awards viewers with card packs for watching broadcasts, could not help the competition.
The most popular event of the Masters Tour 2021 was Orgrimmar, which amassed 417.8K Hours Watched. Its Average and Peak Viewers indicators (14.8K and 20.6K) also became the highest in the series. The performance of the tournament was strongly influenced by the media presence of some of its participants, including Gaby, Viper, Floky, Empanizado, and Rdu – all of whom are well-known Hearthstone players in their home regions.
Comparison with Hearthstone Masters Tour 2020
Despite the large scatter of Masters Tour 2021 indicators, the events of the previous season scored almost the same statistical figures. The difference in indicators turned out to be minimal, with Masters Tour 2020 overtaking its predecessor by 9.3% in terms of Hours Watched and losing only 0.4% in terms of the Average Viewers.
