Hearthstone World Championship 2020: Viewership stats
Hearthstone World Championship 2020 has come to an end. Eight best players of the discipline have fought for $500,000 and for the title of the world champion. But were the viewers interested in the event?
The tournament was initially supposed to take place at BlizzCon, on a huge stage. But unfortunately, players played their matches at home due to the pandemic.

You could follow the games of your favorite players exclusively on YouTube, as Blizzard moved the broadcasts of all their disciplines to this platform.
89K viewers at the peak watched the tournament, and this mark was reached at the match between the Russian player SilverName and the Czech Jarla.
Regarding SilverName, Vladislav Sinotov is the most popular CIS streamer on Twitch in Q3 2020. He was the most favored player of the tournament, even though he took 3rd-4th place. 32K viewers watched his matches on average, and the Russian-speaking audience concluded 76% of the total Peak Viewers.

The Russian broadcast gathered the biggest amount of viewers - 68K at the peak. Hearthstone Esports official broadcast was watched by 15K Peak Viewers.
Although there were far fewer English-speaking viewers, they made the largest contribution to Hours Watched - 40%. The spectators of other languages also watched the tournament, because of the players from different countries.
The final battle between the Japanese Glory and Jarla drew only 29K spectators at the peak, and Kent "Glory" Sato celebrated his victory.

If we compare the results of the World Championship with previous years, the situation is disappointing. Last year's tournaments were held as part of BlizzCon, and, given the scale of the event, they were watched by many more viewers. Compared to 2019, Hours Watched dropped from 4 million to 390,000, and Peak viewership dropped by 67%. So the pandemic had a negative impact on Hearthstone World Championship.
