The first tier-one Counter-Strike event of the spring has arrived. BLAST Open Spring 2026 brings 16 of the world's best CS2 teams together across nearly two weeks of competition, culminating in a live playoff weekend at one of Europe's most storied esports venues. Part of BLAST Premier’s $1.95M 2026 calendar and with the IEM Cologne Major 2026 invite race reaching its final stage, BLAST Open Rotterdam is one of the most consequential Tier-1 LANs on the calendar before the April 6 Valve Ranking System (VRS) deadline.
The 2025 edition set a high benchmark. Last year’s BLAST Opens were highly watched, and ranked among the organizer’s most successful events. Rotterdam 2026 arrives with a strong field of teams and the additional weight of IEM Cologne Major implications — making every match in the bracket consequential not only for the event's own prize pool but for the shape of the Major field.
What is BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026?
The BLAST Open is the central international event of the BLAST Premier circuit, replacing the former structure and finding itself in the middle of BLAST’s triadic Bounty, Open, Rivals pattern for 2026. The 2026 edition marks the first time BLAST has brought the Open to the Netherlands, making it a opportunity for the location to win over both fans and organziers.
BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026 Teams, Format & Prize Pool
Twelve of the sixteen participating teams earned their spots through the VRS, with four additional slots awarded via online qualifiers spread across four regions — Europe, North America, South America and Asia. The participant list represents the near-entirety of the current Tier 1 Counter-Strike scene, with many regional contenders also making appearances and fighting for a slice of the total $400,000 prize pool.

The group stage runs in two double-elimination brackets of eight teams each, with all matches played as best-of-three. The top three finishers from each group advance to the Rotterdam playoffs: group winners proceed directly to the semifinals, while the Upper Bracket Final loser advances to quarterfinals as the high seed and the Lower Bracket Final winner as the low seed. In total, six teams will make the trip for the playoff bracket, which uses a single-elimination format best-of-three matches except for the grand final, which is played as a best-of-five.

BLAST Premier viewership history: past event performance
From a viewership standpoint, the 2025 benchmark is a demanding one. BLAST’s revitalised calendar for the year and future saw their events throughout the year earn hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers, not even including their Major event in Austin, Texas, which reached 1.79M Peak Viewers. BLAST Rivals series also reached a million-viewer peak in November late last year, and looking forward to their Rotterdam open, the event will set the benchmark for BLAST’s Opens in 2026.

BLAST’s most recent event, the BLAST Bounty Winter 2026, received just shy of 800,000 Peak Viewers for its grand finals match between Team Falcons and PARIVISION. Last year, the BLAST Open Spring 2025 peaked at over 850,000 PV and became one of BLAST’s most-watched events ever. Compared to these two, this year’s Open Spring event has a high bar to live up to, but with BLAST’s presence expanding in the Counter-Strike ecosystem and more fans tuning in to their events, the BLAST Open Rotterdam 2026 could well impress with some of the series’ strongest statistics yet.
