From May 1st to May 19th, the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 will take place in the Chinese city of Chengdu. This year, the international League of Legends tournament final will be hosted at the Financial City Performing Arts Center. Participants will compete for a prize pool of $250,000. In addition, this year the MSI winner will receive a quota for the 2024 World Championship for the first time.

The Mid-Season Invitational 2024 will feature the top teams from the spring seasons of regional franchise leagues. Interestingly, both T1 and G2 Esports will compete with the same lineups as they did in the Mid-Season Invitational 2023. However, the winner of the previous MSI, the Chinese team JD Gaming, did not qualify for this year's tournament and will not be able to defend their title.

The previous year's Mid-Season Invitational 2023 became the most popular tournament in the series in terms of peak viewership, with over 2.2 million viewers watching it simultaneously. This tournament also became the most-watched in the history of the series.
