RLCS 2025 - Raleigh Major season changes and viewership

The latest season of the Rocket League Championship Series saw quite a few changes, including an increased total prize pool of $5,000,000 for 3v3s. It also saw the addition of the 1v1s concept for the very first time, with each region getting separate Open qualifiers.

Players are not restricted from playing in both the 3v3 Opens and the 1v1 Opens, but they will be restricted to participating in only one region for the whole year. The 1v1 Champions of each Major, i.e., Birmingham and Raleigh, will automatically qualify for the Rocket League 1v1 World Championship 2025.

The 3v3 format also saw the adoption of three online Open tournaments in each region for qualification to each RLCS Major. As a result, a total of six online Opens will be held in 2025 per region, with each of these events using a standardized format across the year.

The qualification for the World Championship also saw an enhanced update, which will now feature Last Chance Qualifiers. With the game's most coveted tournament expanding from 16 to 20 teams, the LCQ will offer more sides the opportunity to qualify for the largest LAN event in 2025.

The identity of the final four teams that will join the top 16 sides who earned the most cumulative RLCS points for the entire season in each region will be decided here.

Moving to viewership, there has not been much change in terms of the audience reach, but there have been some trends observed. The most obvious of all is the reliance on French teams and fans, as any event in Rocket League depends heavily on sides from this country doing well.

A good example is a comparison of the viewership numbers of the first Major from each of the last two seasons. The Rocket League Championship Series 2025 - Birmingham Major saw Karmine Corp win, while the RLCS 2024 - Major 1, held in Copenhagen, was clinched by Gentle Mates Alpine.

Both sides are from France and are owned by famous content creators from the nation, but it was the success of Gentle Mates Alpine, owned by Corentin "Gotaga" Houssein, that made all the difference. The side's absence from the 2025 Birmingham Major led to a massive drop-off in the event's audience reach compared to the first Major held in 2024.

What also helped the 2024 Major 1 do so well in terms of viewership was that Gentle Mates Alpine emerged as the victor, while two other French sides finished in the top four.

There is no doubt that the performance of sides like Karmine Corp and Gentle Mates will continue to play a crucial role in ensuring Rocket League competitions like the Raleigh Major reach their viewership potential. With both participating in the upcoming American edition, the organizers will hope they go far so that the audience reach is at its maximum.

In terms of language and platforms as well, things have remained more or less stable. YouTube continues to be the dominant name for livestreaming among fans, while major languages like Spanish, English, and French witnessed small changes in their watch time between the first two Majors of 2024 and 2025.

With a spot at the world championship at stake, a lot is riding on the RLCS 2025 - Raleigh Major. Esports Charts will ensure to keep track of all the matches and report any significant news that comes out of the event, be it for viewership, platforms, or the teams.
