Before the start of the IEM Katowice 2023 Semi-Finals, we decided to find out which teams of the tournament have the highest number of followers on social networks (Twitter, YouTube, etc.). As we found out, two of the most popular teams were eliminated from the tournament in the Group stage. See the Esports Charts review for more details.

Viewership statistics of the tournament

We should say that different organizations have different strategies and methods for developing their social networks. Some people need only one common account on a platform, while others have separate accounts for each of their lineups. For example, FaZe Clan has no separate YouTube account — videos from all members and streamers are uploaded there, including the non-game ones. At the same time, Natus Vincere has a big separate channel for the CS:GO team, but the common channel of the club is relatively poorly developed.

FaZe Clan is the most popular club by the total number of subscribers by a large margin. In total, the American organization has 33.1 million subscribers on different social media, five times more than the club in the second position. There is nothing surprising in such a large gap, since FaZe Clan primarily focuses on the media development of the brand, but not on the results of esports. There are more different streamers, influencers, and content creators than professional players in the club.

Fnatic is in second place — the British organization has more than 6.2 million subscribers on many social networks. It is interesting that the page of the club on Facebook has the largest audience. Natus Vincere rounds the Top 3 of the ranking with 6.09 million subscribers.

PaiN Gaming, like FaZe Clan, has Instagram as the most promoted media page. G2 Esports, Cloud9, and OG have the biggest audience on Twitter, while NiP's biggest social media page is on Facebook.

Other interesting facts:

  • Only ten clubs out of 24 participants of IEM Katowice 2023 have separate social media accounts for CS:GO teams.

  • Of all the participants of the tournament, only Sprout, Grayhound Gaming, Permitta Esports, and Outsiders do not have a TikTok account.

  • Only OG has a separate Facebook page for the CS:GO team.

  • Only five teams have a separate Twitter account for the CS:GO squad: Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Cloud9, OG, and Evil Geniuses.

  • FaZe Clan has the most promoted Instagram account among esports organizations — more than 11.5 million followers.

  • Outsiders do not have any social networks at all.

IEM Katowice 2023 Semi Finals are set for February 11 — G2 Esports will face Team Liquid first and then Heroic will play against Natus Vincere. The winners of these series will play for the title in the Grand Final.
