IEM Rio Major 2022  became one of the most popular tournaments in CS:GO history, so it's no surprise that millions of messages were sent in its official Twitch broadcast chats. In this new article, Esports Charts tells you which players and teams were the most popular on Twitch, which emotes and copypastas were used the most, and why DHL InMotion became the most mentioned sponsor of the tournament.

With a great advantage, the most popular team of IEM Rio Major 2022 became Brazilian FURIA Esports, its name appeared in the chat room more than 101.6K times. Such support from the fans is explained by the fact that the tournament was held in Brazil, and FURIA stopped one step away from getting into the grand final. In second place is Natus Vincere, which was mentioned in the chat more than 60.3K times. Recall that the Ukrainian team became the leader of IEM Rio Major 2022 by Average Viewers, and its match against FURIA in the quarterfinals was the most popular at the tournament.

Cloud9, which made it to the quarterfinals, rounded out the top 3 with 53.8K mentions. The major champions Outsiders didn't even make it to the top 10 most mentioned teams, as did Team Spirit and Fnatic who advanced to the Champions Stage. Interestingly, the ranking includes five teams that did not even reach the final stage of the tournament. For example, FaZe Clan lost all its matches in Legends Stage but took fifth place by mentions with the result of 39.4K mentions: many people were shocked with the results and actively discussed the performance of the team.

The most mentioned player of IEM Rio Major 2022 was Dzami "Jame" Ali, who received the MVP medal at the end of the tournament. The Outsiders sniper's nickname appeared more than 48K times in the chat, which was several times more than anyone else's nickname. Half of Jame's mentions were as a part of the phrase "JAME TIME", which has been a popular meme in the CS:GO community for a long time. Viewers wrote it when a player would rather survive and save his weapon for the next round instead of trying to win a clutch.

Team Vitality captain Dan "apEX" Madesclaire ranked second in the top with 18.9K mentions. One part of the audience actively supported the player, while another part laughed at the Frenchman's poor performance and his emotional reactions, sending messages like "apEX LUL" and "apEX malding". Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev, the best CS:GO player of the 2021 season, rounded out the top 3 most popular players of the major. His nickname appeared in the chat almost 16K times. Fourth place was taken by ZywOo, who had 3% fewer mentions than s1mple.

The most mentioned Brazilian player and fifth in the overall ranking was the legendary FalleN from Imperial Esports. Notably, his team was eliminated at the first stage of the event, but he was still mentioned in the chat almost 11.5K times. Two other Brazilian players arT (FURIA) and TACO (00 Nation) ranked sixth and tenth respectively.

The most popular IEM Rio Major 2022 sponsor was the logistics company DHL InMotion, whose name appeared in the chat almost 25.8K times. Some Twitch viewers reacted positively to this action, others were annoyed, but in total more than 71.9K messages with the word "Crowd'' were sent to the chat room.

Many favorites left the tournament without reaching the final stage of the tournament, due to which the in-game predictions of the most viewers didn't come true. In this regard, more than 10.7K messages with the word "pickem" were sent to the chat room, the most common use of it was in the phrase "RIP PICKEM".
