Honor of Kings has long dominated China’s mobile gaming market, boasting millions of active players. Its local leagues and tournaments regularly pack football stadiums to capacity. This weekend, Beijing hosted the King Pro League Grand Finals 2025, an event that marked a major milestone for the esports industry, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest live audience at a stadium.

The King Pro League Grand Finals 2025 featured China’s top 12 teams, based on the KPL Annual Points ranking. With a total prize pool of $9.8 million, it became the most lucrative esports event of 2025.

As many expected, AG Super Play claimed victory at the King Pro League Grand Finals 2025, continuing its dominance over the Honor of Kings pro scene. This win marks the team’s second consecutive KPL Grand Finals title. AG Super Play also holds championships from the 2023 Honor of Kings International Championship and the Honor of Kings World Cup 2025. Altogether, the Chinese organization has earned over $15 million from Honor of Kings tournaments, cementing its status as one of the most successful teams in esports history.

King Pro League Grand Finals 2025 viewership

As noted earlier, Honor of Kings has its biggest fan base in China, with the majority of viewers for tournaments — including the King Pro League Grand Finals 2025 — tuning in through Chinese streaming platforms. When it comes to international fans, the game is still in the early stages of expanding into Western markets, but it’s already showing promising growth.

The King Pro League Grand Finals 2025 peaked at 119,800 viewers across Western streaming platforms, setting a new record for the league. Peak viewership has grown nearly sixfold compared to the previous high recorded during the King Pro League Fall 2020 season. Currently, the 2025 Grand Finals ranks among the top 10 most-watched Honor of Kings events on Western platforms.

Still, Honor of Kings’ massive popularity in China speaks for itself: tickets for the 2025 King Pro League Grand Finals at Beijing’s National Stadium — better known as the Bird’s Nest — sold out in just 12 seconds. According to organizers, the event drew 62,196 in-person attendees, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest live audience ever at an esports event.

The Bird’s Nest was truly spectacular: beyond the matches, organizers created an impressive stage featuring dual-sided split screens that could be separated into individual sections.

Organizers reported that the King Pro League 2025 season drew over 250 million unique viewers across all broadcasts. Online, roughly 60% of the audience was male. Offline, however, the trend flipped: women outnumbered men two to one.

The King Pro League Grand Finals 2025 represented another step in Honor of Kings’ push toward Western audiences. Currently, the most popular Honor of Kings tournament among Western audiences is the 2025 World Cup, which peaked at over 653,300 concurrent viewers on broadcasts.
