LCP 2025 Mid Season breaks records with 85% peak growth, new top Pacific LoL event

LCP 2025 Mid Season breaks records with 85% peak growth, new top Pacific LoL event

Jun 11, 2025 4 min read

Following the inaugural split, it was clear that the newly unified League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) had the potential to deliver standout (if not record-breaking) viewership. That potential became reality at LCP 2025 Mid-Season, as the unified Pacific circuit saw an 85% jump in peak viewership over the last split, thanks to the power of a combined regional audience. Still, while the milestone is worth celebrating, there are still some concerns related to live audience numbers.

The LCP is a newly introduced interregional league in the tier-1 League of Legends esports ecosystem, bringing together teams from across the Pacific region: specifically Vietnam, Taiwan (Republic of China), Japan, and Oceania. A similar merger took place in 2025 with the launch of the League of Legends Championship of The Americas (LTA), combining North and South America.

The key difference between the LTA and LCP is structural: unlike LTA, where interregional play is limited to Cross-Conference stages after Splits 1 and 3, LCP teams face off across regions throughout the entire season.

Within the newly unified region, Vietnam and Taiwan have emerged as the dominant forces, consistently fielding the strongest rosters. It’s also these teams that drew the largest, most dedicated audiences, which together accounted for the majority of the tournament’s viewership. Fittingly, squads from these two powerhouses faced off in the grand final, driving the event to its record-setting peak viewership.

CTBC Flying Oyster once again took the split title, this time edging out Vietnam’s top contender and most popular team, GAM Esports, in a thrilling 3:2 final. The high-stakes matchup drew over 483,000 peak concurrent viewers, the highest number ever recorded for a regular seasonal League of Legends event in the region.

By contrast, the previous split’s final featured two Taiwanese teams, which led to significantly lower live viewership due to limited interest from Vietnamese fans. As it stands, Vietnam remains the single largest contributor to the event’s audience, making their engagement crucial to the tournament’s success.

While the event achieved a major milestone, there are still some red flags worth noting. Following the first split, we highlighted the tournament’s relatively low average audience engagement: yes, the finals can generate massive hype and attract large crowds, but LCP has yet to sustain that level of interest consistently across the entire competition.

Despite the surge in viewership during the finals, the second split’s average audience actually dipped slightly compared to the first. A decline of less than 3% may seem minor, but it still suggests that the event isn't experiencing meaningful growth in overall viewership.

Beyond the peak viewership, both splits of the newly launched LCP delivered nearly identical audience numbers

The LCP has now proven what we anticipated after the inaugural split: the region holds real viewership potential, especially when the right matchups come together. The record-breaking peak audience during the Mid Season final validates that fans can and will show up in large numbers. However, the tournament still faces challenges in sustaining engagement across its full runtime. The slight dip in average viewership during Split 2 underscores that while the final may capture attention, steady audience growth remains elusive.

As for what’s next, both LCP finalists, CTBC Flying Oyster and GAM Esports, are set to represent the region on the global stage. First up is the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational in Vancouver, kicking off in just a couple of weeks, followed by the Esports World Cup in mid-July. With the Pacific and EMEA locked in, the spotlight now shifts to the remaining regions still deep in competition: North America, South America, China, and Korea, all of which are set to finalize their international representatives soon.
