League of Its Own 2024 becomes Red Bull's most successful esports event ever
The Red Bull League of Its Own 2024 was held on December 15 at the Accor Arena in Paris, home of the 2019 League of Legends World Championship Finals. This day-long invitational League of Legends tournament featured Korea's legendary T1 facing off against some of Europe's most popular sides, attracting thousands of viewers.
The showmatch event contained match-ups that fans don't usually witness anywhere else on the LoL calendar. With surprises and rule twists designed to keep every game fresh and unpredictable, there were quite a few games and results that caught the eye, much to the delight of audiences.

The Red Bull League of Its Own 2024 registered 603K Peak Viewers (PV) during the meeting between T1 and Los Ratones. The latter was recently established by former pro and caster Caedrel; as a clash between the most historic side in the game and its newest pretenders, it attracted a healthy audience.
The Red Bull League of Its Own 2024 also notched 4.4M Hours Watched (HW) and 453K Average Viewers (AV) over 10 hours of airtime. Unsurprisingly, T1's games made the top three for the most popular matches played, although it lost all three games.
An interesting point to note was that the reigning two-time world champion played each game in different roles and not the usual ones seen at competitive competitions. As a result, fans got to see legendary mid-laner Faker swap to playing as a support or top laner, leading to some fun moments.
Rekkles got a chance to join up with his former T1 colleagues
Viewers also witnessed the European heavyweight and former T1 Academy star Rekkles team up with the Korean side's main roster in matches against G2 Esports and Karmine Corp. These were the only two games that the side won, with the Swede's presence instead of stand-in support Untara seemingly clicking things into gear.
The only game not to feature T1 was the one between Karmine Corp and G2 Esports. The French side, owned by famous content creator Kamet0, came out as the winner in a clash that attracted almost 520K PV.
Among esports events conducted by Red Bull, the League of Its Own 2024 has emerged as the most popular. In the second spot is the 2023 edition, with an offline Japanese qualifier in Valorant organized by Red Bull and Riot Games completing the podium.

This year’s League of Legends tournament also ended as the most watched event hosted by Red Bull across segments, with the top five on this table all being video game-related competitions.
What also helped the event reach such high numbers were the solo showmatches between various players. There were three such matches interspersed between the main games, with Saken, Alderiate, and Tiky getting the better of Caliste, Doran, and Caps, respectively.
Pitting some of the biggest names in European League of Legends against the most popular side globally in the form of T1 has become a sure-shot recipe for success for the Austrian company. Backed by co-casting from prominent streamers who also double up as team owners, the 2024 edition has surpassed its predecessor to become the organizer's top esports competition by PV, so it is safe to say this off-season concept is here to stay.
