After KT Rolster squared the finals of the 2025 League of Legends World Championship, fans got some news about the newest champion to come to the MOBA: Zaahen. Paul "Pabro" Bellezza, the Executive Producer of League of Legends at Riot Games, sat down with desk host Laure Valée to speak about the exciting update.
Pablo revealed that Zaahen is a toplaner, 'a fighter and a bruiser who is all about auto-attacking'. The more he auto-attacks, the more the damage will increase and sustain on his opponents. As a result, the closer he gets to any opponent, the more chances he has to stay alive, as he has a revive spell.
In the cinematic released by Riot Games on November 8, Xin Zhao sacrifices himself to become Zaahen's host. Sticking to the Rift's lore, Zaahen is a good-guy Darkin who can be a dangerous proposition for those battling him. Also known as the Darkin Glaive, he once fought against his own kind during the Great Darkin War, helping defend Ionia alongside Yunara and the Kinkou Order.
Zaahen will be available in Riot Games' Public Beta Environment on November 10, where testers will try him out. He is expected to be officially released during the launch of patch 25.23 on November 19 at 11 AM PDT, which is when the much-anticipated Winter Map will be enabled on the Summoner’s Rift.
Here's the expected release schedule for a few popular time zones, although they could change depending on various factors:
- 7 PM GMT (EUW servers)
- 8 PM CET (EUNE servers)
