The popularity and craze of MOBA esports, especially Wild Rift are simply unmatched. In the previous month, Wild Rift held the Japan Cup 2021 from the 11th to the 26th of September. This article is a detailed analysis of viewership for the same. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at it.

Japan Cup is basically the regional qualifier for the main championship event, Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021. As we know that, to qualify for the same, Riot is holding a bunch of qualifiers tourneys in numerous regions to select the best teams for the Cup.

It follows the format of Group and Knockout Stages with multiple eliminations. The Japan Cup 2021 had prize money of a total ¥6,500,000, equivalent to $60,000, shared among the top three teams.

The first place was bagged by Sengoku Gaming, followed by Donuts USG in the second place. The third place was jointly bagged by Killer Gaming and elDive Gaming. However, the winner of the cup will be representing Japan in the Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021.

Viewership statistics for Japan Cup 2021

To begin with the match details, the final match of Sengoku vs. DonutsUSG had the highest viewers of almost 5K, hence topping the chart. The Group Stage, Day 2 of Sengoku vs. DonutsUSG has the second-highest Peak Viewers of 4K. It seems both the teams have a good number of fan following by comparing the stats with other matches.

From the bottom, we have SCARZ vs. EDG’s match, which attracted 3K Peak Viewers, and the fourth place is held by DonutsUSG vs. NNB which had grabbed 3.8K Peak Viewers but is way too ahead from the last position.

Coming to the overall statistics, the entire regional qualifiers was streamed on Twitch and had 4.8K Average Viewers in real-time. Needless to say, Japanese was the preferred language as it was a regional tournament.

Tournaments viewership comparison

Before we discuss the viewership comparison, let’s talk you through the different stages of the Japan Cup 2021. Prior to the final regional qualifiers, there were a bunch of smaller tourneys held in different months to choose the teams that could contest in the Japan Cup 2021.

As we have already discussed the stats of Japan Cup 2021 above, we will be beginning with the breakdown of the rest. In the second place, there is the Last Chance 2021, held at the end of August had 9.8K Hours Watched with 3K Peak Viewers. The same collected a total of 1K Average Viewers in 9H of Air Time.

Before the Japan Cup 2021 Last Chance, there was the one-day August Stage which had 11K of Hours Watched and 2.7K Peak Viewers during the Sengoku vs. SCARZ match. The very match witnessed a 1K Average Viewers in 9H of Air Time.

Lastly, the July Stage had 11K Hours Watched along with 3.6K Peak Viewers. Interestingly, it has better stats than other tourneys while considering the Average Viewers and Air Time, which are 1.6K Average Viewers and only in 7H of Air Time, respectively.
