LEC Spring 2023 Regular Season viewers stats are down significantly from Winter Season
LEC Spring 2023, the League of Legends regular season, has come to an end, and Esports Charts is summing up the intermediate results before the start of the Group Stage. Unfortunately, the Spring split is still far inferior to the Winter split by every metric.
LEC Spring 2023 participants played nine games each in the regular season. Team BDS topped the standings with seven victories — quite an unexpected result, considering the team's modest performance in winter (7th place in LEC Winter 2023). Team Heretics and Excel Esports ended up on the last lines of the standings — they failed to qualify for the Group Stage and finished the season early. It is interesting that MAD Lions was also on the verge of elimination, but it defeated Team Heretics in the tiebreaker and will continue to compete in the Group Stage. We should remind you that in the winter season, MAD Lions was one of the strongest teams — it took second place, losing to G2 Esports in the Grand Final.
The LEC Spring 2023 Group Stage will feature the top eight teams from the regular season. Astralis, Fnatic, MAD Lions and Team Vitality will play in Group A and G2 Esports, KOI, SK Gaming and Team BDS will compete in Group B. The games begin on April 8.
LEC Spring 2023 Regular Season Viewership Statistics

LEC Spring 2023 regular season matches accumulated 11.1 million Hours Watched and drew 208.5K Average Viewers. The most popular game of the stage is the series between Fnatic and KOI, with 350.8K Peak Viewers. Team Heretics and KOI became the leaders by the total Hours Watched in the regular season. The latter also topped the ranking of teams in terms of Average Viewers.
English became the most popular broadcast language in the LEC Spring 2023 regular season, accounting for slightly more than 57% of the total HW. French and Spanish are also in the Top 3 by this metric.
Comparing the LEC Spring 2023 and LEC Winter 2023 regular seasons, we can see a 25-26% drop in almost all metrics. The most watched game week of the Spring split accumulated fewer Hours Watched than the most unpopular week of the Winter split. Only KOI's lead in viewership remained unchanged.
Overall, the drop in metrics shouldn't be surprising. At LEC, the first split of the year is traditionally the most popular with viewers. After the Winter split, the excitement naturally subsided, which led to a drop in metrics in the Spring one.
