The most popular teams of COD League

The regular part of the Call of Duty League has come to an end. Before it gets to the finals, we will tell you about the tournament's participants.

In 2020, the Call of Duty esports system underwent fundamental changes. Since the beginning of the year, the franchise league has become the discipline's central championship. Becoming its participant was possible only through acquiring a franchise spot from a particular city.

In this article, the popularity ranking will be based on the number of subscribers on social networks. Each indicator is taken from the official page of each team on the tournament website. The accounts of the organizations are ignored: for example, in the case of CHI Huntsmen, we are a looking only at the pages of the team itself (and not at the pages of the owner, NRG Esports).

LA OpTic Gaming became the most popular team for the result of 5 million subscribers. And for a good reason, too: while the other members were starting their accounts from scratch, OpTic Gaming opted to use the page of the previous organization as a basis for its current account instead. To remind you, last year the “green wall” was bought by the guys from Immortals, allowing the company to create the OpTic brand exclusively for Call of Duty.

Chicago Huntsmen would be at the top, should the previous team be overlooked. They have managed to collect a significant part of own popularity indicator through Twitter and Instagram. It should be noted that this particular team is constantly becoming the most popular one at the regional stops of the COD League. We've talked about this in more detail in our news.

The second Los Angeles team, Guerrillas, has the fewest subscribers. The follower count of this team reaches only 37 thousand. Paris Legion is not too far from them. The French were ahead of their American opponents by only a couple of thousand people.

The organizers of the league deserve a separate mention. The championship's official website features a lot of outdated links to social networks. Although not by large, this has still affected the growth of the social network audience of the respective teams.

Overall, the situation shows that the discipline's veteran teams are among the first. All the three teams are pretty much the pillars responsible for founding the game's esports  scene: OpTic Gaming, FaZe Clan, and Team EnVyUs (Dallas Empire).

Chicago Huntsmen have surprised us, given that the NRG are not that popular among the fans of Call of Duty. Still, this didn't stop their franchise from scoring the largest number of subscribers.
