The Japanese really love and respect games, in all forms and genres, ranging from street arcades to VR horror games. Japanese viewers also like esports, but often their preferences differ from those of foreigners. Traditional esports disciplines such as CS:GO or League of Legends are often not as popular in Japan as other games that draw much less attention in the West. The Streams Charts editorial team has summed up the results of October and compiled the Top of the most popular esports tournaments with the Japanese.

Splatoon 3 Start Dash Cup, held on October 9, tops the ranking. The third installment of the popular Nintendo media franchise was released in September, but it has already seen a number of tournaments. Start Dash Cup has become the largest of them — its broadcast attracted 86.5K Peak Viewers. This is the record of the discipline so far.

VCT 2022: Game Changers East Asia, a women's Valorant tournament, ranks second. The Grand Final between FENNEL Female and Spear Gaming Female attracted more than 63.6K PV. The shooter by Riot Games is very popular in Japan — the number of fans and viewers is growing from tournament to tournament.

2022 World Championship in League of Legends takes third place in the ranking. More than 44.4K Japanese PV followed the match between the Chinese team Royal Never Give Up and the DetonatioN FocusMe team from the Japanese league LJL. RNGU won that match, with DetonatioN FocusMe taking 17th-18th place.

The Street Fighter League Pro-JP 2022 tournament drew more than 39.2K PV from Japan in October. This is a new Japanese broadcast record within the discipline. Before that, the PV number was 37.3K reached at EVO 2022 SFV.

Splatoon 3 Start Dash Cup Junior, which took place on October 8, rounds out the Top 5 of the ranking. Its feature was that only elementary school students or younger players took part in the competition. This unusual championship attracted 38.5K Japanese PV.
