The ranking of the most popular events in July shows that mobile gaming again takes the leading position and bypasses traditional esports. The mobile tournament overtook a relatively large CS:GO event and gathered over a million viewers past month.

In the new article, Esports Charts will tell you about the best events by statistics for different audiences and which esports channels gathered the most viewers in July 2021.

The most popular tournaments in July 2021

The most popular tournament in July was the PUBG Mobile World Invitational. The event was a part of the Gamers Without Borders charity marathon and drew 1 million viewers at its peak. The reason for this interest is that 32 teams from different regions were invited to the tournament. Therefore, the competition attracted many fans around the world. Also,  3 million dollars from the prize fund were sent to charity.

In second place is IEM Cologne 2021 in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The main feature of the event was its offline format. The match between G2 and NAVI was watched by 843K Peak Viewers.

Another mobile esports tournament got to the top, its the second season of the Brazilian Free Fire league. The event brought together the most popular teams in the Spanish-speaking region and attracted more than half a million viewers.

The first two positions in the ranking among English-speaking viewers have not changed compared to the main top. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that the mobile event remains top-1, overtaking the major CS:GO competition even among English-speaking audience. This is interesting because mobile esports is more common among Asian countries.

At the same time, the European qualifiers for The International have risen two lines up compared to the overall top. The participants are the main reason for that. Most of them are loved ones in English-speaking countries.

The European LoL League took fourth place, and the third stage of the Valorant Champions Tour Challengers closes our top 5. This stage was entirely focused on the North American region, so it gathered 234K Peak Viewers and rightfully got into the top.

Preferences do not change in the Russian-speaking region: everyone is watching CS:GO and Dota 2, not paying much attention to other titles. Thus, the first place was taken by IEM Cologne 2021, as the audience supported compatriots from NAVI, Gambit, VP, and Team Spirit.

StarLadder CIS RMR took second place with 241K Russian-speaking viewers. The show match by Buster, a popular Russian streamer, also appeared in our ranking. Vyacheslav Leontyev invited famous Russian content makers and top CS:GO players and united them into teams of two. The event was won by streamer Zloy and s1mple, and the maximum number of viewers was 96K people.

Although The International 10 qualifiers entered the top, they didn’t attract as much attention as possible. Comparing Western Europe qualifier with the 2019 CIS qualifiers, the 2021 event was watched by 28% Peak Viewers less.
