In the ranking of the most-watched esports teams of 2024, the majority of spots were claimed by League of Legends teams, and that's no surprise, given the massive success of the 2024 World Championship & some of the regional leagues. Natus Vincere emerged as the most popular team outside of Asia, while G2 Esports made history by having two rosters in the top 10, a first for the industry. Esports Charts is continuing year-end coverage with a series of articles, all available under a special tag.
The most-watched esports team of 2024 was T1, the reigning League of Legends World Champions. Their matches this season generated over 195,000,000 Hours Watched (HW), with half of that coming from their victory at the 2024 World Championship.
T1's dominance is undeniable. Thanks to the legendary team led by Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, several historic records were set this year, including the most-popular match and the most-viewed tournament. These incredible achievements at Worlds didn’t go unnoticed by The Game Awards 2024 as T1 took home the Best Esports Team award, while Faker claimed Best Esports Athlete for the second year in a row and third time overall. There’s no need for more words here: a legendary team, a legendary player, and a legendary achievement.
In second place was RRQ Hoshi, reaffirming its status as the top team in the professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang scene. By year’s end, RRQ Hoshi had racked up over 112,200,000 HW, with half of that coming from their performance in MPL Indonesia Season 14.
RRQ Hoshi didn’t need to win any majors or world championships to secure such a high ranking, unlike many of the other top teams. Their closest shot at a title came during MPL ID S14, where they made it to the finals, but were narrowly defeated by Team Liquid ID in a hard-fought match.

Gen.G’s League of Legends roster claimed third place in the ranking of the most-watched teams of the year. Before the 2024 season, the Korean team made some major roster changes, and it paid off. In the summer, Gen.G became the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 champions, earning their first-ever international title.
Gen.G also had a strong run at the 2024 World Championship but fell short in the semifinals, just like in 2021 and 2022. However, they did set a new personal record for their highest viewership ever: 4,977,721 Peak Viewers (PV). This currently ranks seventh among all esports teams across all titles.
Bilibili Gaming became the most-watched team from China on Western streaming platforms in 2024. The team had an impressive season, winning both splits of the LPL and making it to the finals of both MSI 2024 and Worlds 2024. Unfortunately, their quest for their first international title was halted by the South Korean teams.
Currently, Bilibili Gaming shares the top spot with T1 as participants of the most-watched match in esports history. In the 2024 Worlds finals, these two teams attracted 6,941,610 concurrent viewers, and surpassing that number will be incredibly hard.
Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) took fifth place in the rankings, with just over 68,370,000 HW. In past years, the Korean team hadn’t made much noise, but in 2024, they surprisingly claimed their first-ever LCK championship and made their debut at Worlds. It was at the World Championship where HLE racked up the bulk of their watch hours and set a new record for the most viewers in a single match.
The 2025 season looks promising, as Hanwha Life Esports signed Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, former T1 top laner and two-time Worlds champion. With this new addition, they’re poised to compete for even higher finishes in international tournaments.
Team Liquid ID became the second Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team to make our ranking. The Indonesian squad had a standout season, winning MPL Indonesia Season 14 and finishing second at the M6 World Championship. Team Liquid’s decision to expand into this new title has clearly paid off, as they now boast one of the strongest teams in the game.
Natus Vincere's Counter-Strike roster emerged as the most-watched esports team outside of Asia. Over the year, NAVI’s matches generated around 64,840,000 HW, thanks to their consistently impressive performance. The team’s biggest achievement in 2024 was their victory at PGL Major Copenhagen, the second Major title in the club's history. Other notable wins included first-place finishes at the Esports World Cup 2024, ESL Pro League Season 20 and IEM Rio 2024.
The Korean team Dplus KIA cracked the top 10 without any major achievements. While they did participate in the 2024 World Championship, they didn’t make it past the playoffs. Most of Dplus KIA watch time came from two LCK splits, where they finished fourth both times, losing key matches to T1. These frequent showdowns with T1, the current leader of the rankings, helped Dplus KIA land a spot in the year-end top 10.
Rounding out the rankings are two G2 Esports teams competing in League of Legends and Counter-Strike. For the first time in esports history, two rosters from the same organization made it into the year-end top 10, marking a unique achievement for the European club.
G2 Esports’ League of Legends squad completely dominated the LEC, winning all three splits this year. They also performed well at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and Esports World Cup, finishing 3rd-4th in both. However, they lost some of their momentum toward the end of the year and failed to make it to the playoffs of the 2024 World Championship. They had tough matchups in the Swiss Stage, where they lost to Bilibili Gaming and T1, the two future finalists.
G2 Esports’ Counter-Strike roster was just behind the League of Legends squad in terms of watch time. The team’s biggest wins this year were at IEM Dallas 2024, BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024, and BLAST Premier: World Final 2024.
There are still some big names among teams that didn’t make the top 10. Team Falcons was the most-watched Dota 2 team of the year, and Sentinels held the top spot in Valorant. Additionally, two Team Spirit rosters (CS2 and Dota 2) ranked near each other, similar to how G2 Esports did.
