The third game day ended at Mid-Season Invitational 2022, during which the tournament reached a new milestone in terms of peak simultaneous audience. The results of the matches cannot be called super surprising, but if in group C clear favorites and outsiders were determined, then in quartet B the battle for a place in the next stage of the tournament escalated to the limit. Esports Charts sums up the game day and talks about the excitement around the T1 match and the success of MSI on YouTube.
MSI 2022 Group Stage Day 3 Results
As in previous days, two matches were played in each group, and they turned out to be rather one-sided: all games ended in 20-27 minutes. In quartet A, the Korean team T1 continued to dominate their opponents, taking the third victory in a row: Faker and co defeated DetonatioN FocusMe and extended their winning streak. Saigon Buffalo defeated Team Aze in the parallel match and secured the second position in the group.

The intrigue escalated much more in Group B, where the Chinese champion continues to lead — Royal Never Give Up earned a third victory by defeating RED Canids. At the same time, on the third day, PSG Talon suddenly broke into second place, having won its first match in the tournament, the team turned out to be stronger than İstanbul Wildcats. Now three teams in the group have the same statistics, so the fate of the playoff ticket will be decided tomorrow.
Group C remains the most predictable in terms of results, where only three teams play. On the third gaming day, Evil Geniuses and G2 Esports took turns defeating the outsider ORDER and consolidated their positions on the second and first spots, respectively. The champion of LCO Split 1 2022 has almost lost the chance to compete for a place in the next stage of the tournament.
Viewership Statistics of Day 3
The third day of MSI 2022 showed the weakest viewership figures. For 6 hours of broadcasting, viewers spent a little more than 2.4 million hours watching matches, which is 22% less than yesterday's result. Similarly, the average audience droppped: it amounted to 408 thousand people (15% less than on the second day).

Despite the drop in metrics, the tournament reached a new peak viewership: the T1 match against DetoNation FocusMe was concurrently watched by up to 818.6 thousand people. This is 9.6 thousand more than the Koreans' game against Aze.
Interestingly, on the third day the tournament amassed the biggest audience on YouTube up-to-date, the event peaked at 223 thousand viewers. Similarly, a new peak was set on Trovo, where up to 1.7 thousand people watched the tournament concurrently.
