Royal Never Give Up domination and new viewership peak — MSI 2022 Rumble Stage recap
Rumble Stage is over at Mid-Season Invitational 2022, and all the semi-final pairings are now known. In the new article, Esports Charts will tell about the teams that made it to the playoffs, which match became the most popular one throughout the stage and how viewership has changed compared to previous tournament of the series.
MSI 2022 Rumble Stage Results
Chinese team Royal Never Give Up became the best team of Rumble Stage as the team only lost two maps out of ten, against G2 Esports on the first day & T1 on the last day of the stage. On the contrary, T1 lost the status of an invincible team and took second place after losing three maps. Let us remind you that the Korean team had a series of 26 victories in a row before the start of the Rumble Stage.

It was G2 Esports that ended T1’s winstreak on the first day of the stage. The European team started the stage with four confident victories in a row, but finished it with 5:5 score, taking only the third place in the second group stage. Evil Geniuses finished Rumble Stage with the same number of wins and losses (4th place): note that the team from North America qualified for the MSI Playoffs for the first time since 2019.

PSG Talon and Saigon Buffalo turned out to be the least successful teams in the Rumble Stage: they got eliminated from MSI 2022, finishing 5th and 6th respectively. The teams earned $17,000 each.
MSI 2022 Rumble Stage Viewership Statistics
In total, Rumble Stage broadcasts collected 18.33 million Hours Watched with an average online of 597.7K viewers over five game days. Compared to the same stage of MSI 2021, these figures were only 6% and 2% lower, respectively. At the same time, the maximum number of simultaneous viewers increased by 19%, amounting to 1.18 million spectators: the peak was reached during the T1 match against RNG on the second game day. Note that the most popular match of the same stage at MSI 2021 was DWG KIA vs MAD Lions.

The most popular broadcast languages were Korean and English, with 337K and 334.5K viewers at the peak. Twitch became the leader in terms of the same indicator among the platforms: 733.75K people. Note that this is platform’s best result in the entire tournament. Also YouTube and Afreeca TV updated their peaks during the Rumble Stage.

On average, almost 712K viewers watched T1 matches, which made the Korean team the most popular during the Rumble Stage. LCK champions are followed by RNG and G2, whose matches averaged 673K and 601.6K viewers, respectively. The least interesting team to the audience was Evil Geniuses, which was outplaced by both PSG Talon and Saigon Buffalo by Average Viewers.

MSI 2022 Rumble Stage matches were covered on dozens of channels, and the developer's official English channel, riotgames, was the most watched one. Viewers spent 4.48 million hours on its broadcasts, which is 52% more than lck_korea Twitch channel amassed, which is the closest pursuer of the leader. YouTube channels VETV Esports (Vietnamese) and LoL Esports (English) are on the 3rd-4th place, and the top 5 is closed by the French-speaking otplol_.

MSI 2022 first semi-final will be held on May 27, when Royal Never Give Up will face off Evil Geniuses. The day after T1 will play against G2 Esports, and the grand final of the event is scheduled for Sunday, May 29. All matches will be held in bo5 format.
