NEW STATE MOBILE Open Challenge — results of the first New State event
In November 2021, the first sequel to PUBG Mobile titled New State was published by Krafton. Just like its predecessor, New State Mobile is an online multiplayer battle royale that pits 100 players against each other on a remote island called Troi to collect supplies and fight each other to survive, with the last one standing becoming the winner.
Originally titled PUBG: New state and later renamed to New State Mobile, the game brings an improved experience of the PUBG Mobile gameplay in a more futuristic setting, with a lot of new content and advanced lore.
Besides better graphics and simpler UI, New State adds numerous gameplay mechanics that focus on providing a more realistic experience. For example, players are now able to roll over or be taken down by a teammate driving a vehicle. Features like a smoke grenade trail, broken helmet pieces visible on the floor or crows flying over cornfields have been added.
The most exciting addition seems to be weapon customisation, which enables actions such as selecting fire mode or attaching grenade launchers. Drones and new vehicles are also present. Moreover, combat rolls and ballistic shields offer new possibilities while engaging other players.
NEW STATE MOBILE Open Challenge viewership results

It’s been three months since New State came out, but it wasn’t until now that the first official tournament featuring the newest PUBG title was held. Considering that this is a new game, the event was quite a success in terms of viewership.
The NEW STATE MOBILE Open Challenge, organized by LVUP and Krafton, was an open tournament exclusively for Korean players, which featured 24 teams in a battle for a $250,000 shared prize pool.
In 22 hours of Air Time, the event generated 48.18K Hours Watched, while attracting 2.2K Average Viewers. The highest peak of 7.88K concurrent viewers was reached during Round 4 of the final stage. Naturally, the majority of spectators watched the broadcast in Korean.
All matches of the tournament were played in the Extreme BR mode featuring a faster-shrinking zone with higher loot density, which was introduced this January. The competition concluded with the victory of team Another Level, followed by PGS and all Die.

Although New State Mobile is the sequel to PUBG Mobile, it’s not necessarily looking to become its successor just yet. Because the two games will continue operating simultaneously, they will be in direct competition with each other, trying to appeal to the same player base.
Moreover, since New State Mobile requires more powerful hardware than its predecessor, its target audience probably won’t be as big, compared to PUBG Mobile markets in India, Indonesia and Brasil.
