PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 Elimination Stage showed similar statistics to the Paris Major, with the Turkish language setting a record in Counter-Strike
The last PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 playoffs teams were determined on March 24th. With just eight teams remaining in the running for the title of the first Counter-Strike 2 Major, the Elimination Stage witnessed viewer statistics reminiscent of those during the Legends Stage at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. However, these tournaments differed significantly in terms of language dynamics. For instance, the popularity of Portuguese and Turkish languages grew at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, while English and Russian saw notable declines.
The results of the group stage turned out to be quite predictable, as all the favorites advanced to the playoffs, although some were on the verge of elimination. Team Spirit and MOUZ performed exceptionally well, while FaZe Clan, Natus Vincere, and G2 Esports made their fans anxious. It's worth noting that none of the Brazilian teams managed to make it past the group stage. Without them, the viewership on Portuguese-language streams is expected to decrease, inevitably affecting the overall event statistics.

PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 showed a similar statistic in the Elimination Stage as the Legends Stage at the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. The average viewership of the Danish Major slightly increased compared to the previous tournament, but the total watch time decreased slightly due to less airtime.
The peak viewership for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 reached 961.3K Peak Viewers so far. This milestone was reached on March 22nd during concurrent matches between Natus Vincere vs Team Spirit, FURIA vs ECSTATIC, and The MongolZ vs paiN Gaming. The most popular series of the Elimination Stage in Copenhagen was the elimination match between Natus Vincere and paiN Gaming, which attracted 797.4K PV simultaneously. The top three in this regard also included the series G2 Esports vs Virtus.pro and Cloud9 vs Team Spirit.
Comparing the language dynamics, a significant drop in English viewership was observed, with a decrease of almost 35% compared to the Legends Stage in Paris. Peak online viewership on Russian-language streams also decreased by 5%. Meanwhile, the Portuguese language saw a remarkable increase of 128%, mainly due to the large number of Brazilian participants.
Seven out of the eight playoff participants in the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 are ranked within the top ten teams in the world according to the HLTV.org rankings. Many analysts consider this tournament to be one of the most competitive in recent years. The battle for the $1.25 million prize pool is expected to be intense, so we can anticipate an increase in viewership during the playoffs.
The final matches of the tournament will take place from March 28th to 31st at the Royal Arena in Denmark. You can follow the competition's progress on the live reporting page.
