Pinnacle Cup V has become the most popular tournament in the history of the series
On August 26th, the CS:GO tournament Pinnacle Cup V came to an end. The decisive match attracted a record number of viewers for the series, all thanks to the incredible engagement of fans from Brazil.
Pinnacle Cup V featured 32 teams from Europe and Brazil that were invited directly by the organizers. The event consisted of three stages: firstly, the lower-seeded participants competed in the Play-In, after which the top teams continued their battle for the title in the Swiss group stage, where they faced the higher-seeded teams. In the final stage, 12 best teams competed in a single-elimination bracket. Among them were Astralis, Bad News Eagles, FURIA Esports, and Monte: all were directly invited to the playoffs by the organizers.
The winner of Pinnacle Cup V was the new European roster 00 Nation, which had replaced the Brazilian roster led by coldzera just in the middle of August. In the final match, 00 Nation defeated FURIA Esports, led by FalleN, with a score of 2:0.
Pinnacle Cup V Viewership Statistics

The matches of Pinnacle Cup V accumulated 1.7 million Hours Watched. The Average viewership during the broadcast was 11K concurrent spectators, but the grand final and the most popular series of the tournament gathered a whopping 168.8K Peak Viewers. A significant difference can be observed even within the top 5 matches, all because the main activity of viewers revolved around the Brazilian team FURIA Esports, which started playing only from the playoff stage. The matches of this team were actively covered by Brazilian streamer Gaules, who is one of the most popular figures in the discipline.
FURIA Esports played only three matches in the tournament; however, thanks to Gaules' broadcasts, this team became the whole event leader both in watch time and in the number of viewers.
Pinnacle Cup V comparison with other tournaments

Pinnacle Cup V has become the most popular tournament of the series, surpassing all previous ones not only in terms of Hours Watched but also in terms of Average and Peak Viewers during the broadcasts. Previously, the leader in all aspects was the very first Pinnacle Cup, which took place in the spring of 2021. As for other international tournaments in 2023, in terms of Peak Viewers, Pinnacle Cup V can be compared to the BLAST Premier: Spring European Showdown 2023, AT&T Annihilator Cup 2023, and BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: American RMR.
Why was Pinnacle Cup V able to change the trend of the series and stand on par with major tier-2 tournaments? Obviously, a significant role was played by the appearance of the Brazilian team FURIA Esports in the grand final. Brazilian fans are among the most active fans in the world, especially during Gaules' broadcasts. Without the strong performance of FURIA Esports, the viewership statistics would have been considerably lower. Another factor could have been the “confusion” among Brazilian viewers — many of them probably assumed that the match between 00 Nation and FURIA Esports would be a Brazilian derby (which added even more intrigue). Fans might have simply overlooked the fact that just before the tournament, the paths of 00 Nation and the Brazilian roster diverged, leading to the organization signing a European mix with niko and syrsoN under their tag.
The impact of the last fact is hard to evaluate, as ultimately, a Brazilian team still played in the final. However, many viewers were likely disappointed that they wouldn't get to witness the duel between former teammates FalleN and coldzera.
