PUBG Mobile Super League SEA Summer 2024 ends as season's most popular regional league
The PUBG Mobile Super League - Southeast Asia Summer 2024 concluded on June 2 at the Imperial World Samrong Shopping Mall in Samut Prakan, Thailand. It was the most successful of the four regional competitions in the series, although its viewership numbers were the lowest among the four splits held since 2023.
After around a month of action, this tournament saw BOOM Esports emerge as the champion for a second straight split with 200 points in the Grand Final. It was a dominant performance from the Indonesian side as it accrued 33 points more than any other participant and won the joint-most number of rounds alongside The Infinity and D'Xavier.

The competition winner took home $43,800 in prize money out of a total purse of $200,000 while the runner-up became richer by $29,750. The top four booked slots in the Group Stage of the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024 with the fifth-placed side heading to its Survival Stage. Moreover, the top five teams advanced to the PUBG Mobile Regional Clash 2024 - PEL vs CSA vs SEA.

The PUBG Mobile Super League - Southeast Asia Summer 2024 recorded 404.2K Peak Viewers during Round 16 on Day 3 of the Grand Finals. Popular Thai side Vampire Esports clinched its second Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, but it was here that victory was more or less confirmed for BOOM Esports.
The PUBG Mobile event also touched 12.7M Hours Watched and 133.7K Average Viewers over 96 hours of airtime. Heading into the final stage, it seemed like another Indonesian side, Alter Ego Ares, would emerge triumphant thanks to accumulating 30 Grand Finals Headstart Points. However, it could not maintain this momentum when it mattered.
Just two podium finishes across 18 rounds saw it end in ninth on the final table, adding to the heartache that was its last-round second-place finish at the previous split, the PUBG Mobile Super League - Southeast Asia Spring 2024. Interestingly, this tournament also had only one match that passed 400K PV, but because of the suspense as to who would win until the last round, it was able to attract a lot more viewers.

When compared to its Spring counterpart, which set a record for watch time in the still fledgling series, the Summer split was unable to match up. One big reason was that it could not attract as many Indonesian viewers due to the performance of the country's sides, with the former league seeing a clean sweep of the podium while only two finished in the top five in the latter.
Additionally, looking at the four splits held in the series so far, the PMSL - SEA Summer 2024 put up the lowest numbers. However, these figures are still on the higher side and they continue to showcase the series as one of the most successful ones in mobile esports and PUBG Mobile.

Crucially, it reinforced the importance of this region to the game's success, as SEA contributes hugely to its player and viewer bases. The hope among fans will be that its teams can now replicate this success on the international stage, where sides from Central and South Asia have been more successful recently.
The first stop in that quest will be the PUBG Mobile Regional Clash 2024, where spectators can see battles between regions. Bigetron RA won the 2023 event, and though it will not be there to defend its crown, fans will hope the title stays in SEA via one of the five qualified sides.
