PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 interim results: an event marked by good viewership
The PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 is entering its last and most crucial stage. When the event started we had the fifty best teams in the world, now we are down to just sixteen. These squads played multiple games, with some of them having to go through three stages, to qualify for the Grand Final.
Most of the favorite teams qualified for the last stage of the event, with reigning champions Nova Esports still in the race to revalidate their title. As expected, Asian teams make up the majority of squads qualified for the Grand Finals. Only five of the sixteen teams are not from the APAC region. Three of these teams come from Brazil and have had an amazing performance in the tournament so far. Making Brazilian fans believe that they are capable to bring the trophy home.
Surprisingly, two out of the three Turkish teams that attended the event also managed to reach the Grand Finals. Unfortunately for European fans, their teams were not so lucky, with no European squad reaching that stage. LGD is arguably the biggest disappointment of the event. The Chinese team that came in third place in the Peacekeeper Elite League Summer 2022, didn't perform at the level expected of them, especially in the Last Stage. It was the only Chinese team to not make the Grand Finals.
Viewership stats of the event so far

PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 viewership has been very steady. The event started well and continued to attract the interest of thousands of viewers daily. So far the event has a peak viewership of 524K, which was reached on the last day of the Last Change stage. Many viewers have also tuned regularly to see the matches. With the event having 251K Average Viewers. Both metrics will surely increase since the tournament will enter its most crucial stage.
The event was watched for 20.9 million hours, with the majority of the tournament viewers being from Indonesia, and other Asian countries, such as Malaysia, or Nepali. The Indonesian language is the most popular of the event. It has two of the three most watched and most popular channels of the competition. With all the Indonesian broadcasts combined, they had 241K PV, which came together on the 4th of December, to watch the Last Change stage.
There are also many viewers tuning into the English broadcast. As of today, 155K is the broadcast peak viewership, and it was reached on the event's first day. The English broadcast is the second most popular of the event, and is where most English-speaking fans choose to watch the games.
As mentioned above, Turkish teams have played well so far, surprising viewers and analysts alike. But it's not only the teams that are having a surprising performance, as the Turkish language is the fifth most popular of the event. It's ahead of languages such as Thai, or Arabic. The good performances of the teams played a huge role in this achievement.
One curious fact is that despite the Spanish YouTube broadcast being the second most watched of the event, the language is not even among the ten most popular. So far, the Spanish language has 18K Peak Viewers.
YouTube and FB are viewers' platforms of choice. Both platforms reached a great number in the PV metric. YouTube with 305K PV and FB is a little behind with 284K PV. TikTok closes out the podium, with 32K Peak Viewers, and is very far from the viewership reached by the top two platforms.
So far the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2022 has been a great success. The viewership has been steady, and it's predicted it will improve in the Grand Finals. Asian fans continue to make up the majority of the event audience, especially Indonesian viewers, which are the heart of this tournament.
History will also be made no matter what, since Nova Esports can become the first three-time champions of the event. If that doesn't happen, we will see the second team ever to lift the trophy, since Nova Esports has won all the editions of the event so far. No matter what happens, PUBG Mobile fans are in for an exciting tournament end.
