PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025 marks game's most popular event in over four years
The recent PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025 marked the end of another popular game's journey at the Esports World Cup. A fairytale run culminating in a win like no other and the return of an Indian team were the big reasons it ended as the game's most popular event for over four years.
The PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025 brought together the world's 24 best teams to battle it out for a hefty prize pool of around $3 million. Serving as the mid-season international event of the 2025 competitive season, it marked the first time India, one of the title's biggest markets before its ban in the nation, played in the global competitive scene since 2021.
The South Asian country earned one qualification slot via the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series. The victor, Team AxTMG, had the chance to represent India on its return to the international PUBG Mobile stage.

After over ten days of action, Yangon Galacticos won this competition by 15 points, aided by four Winner Winner Chicken Dinners in the Grand Final. This was an underdog story like no other, as the Burmese team, not part of any region's Super League, had booked its ticket to Riyadh through the open qualifiers in Myanmar.
There were no signs of what was about to come, even in the Survival Stage, where it finished eighth and just about qualified for the Grand Finals. Just a one-point loss would have led to its elimination, but it played out of its skin in the last stage to clinch its biggest-ever tournament win and take home $547,000.
The triumph also gave Yangon Galacticos an unlikely 1000 Club Championship points, meaning it had more points than superstar esports organizations like Gaimin Gladiators, Fnatic, T1, Rex Regum Qeon, and Natus Vincere at the time of writing.
Viewership insights from the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025

All these subplots ensured that the PMWC 2025 peaked at almost 1.4 million Peak Viewers (PV). This made it the game's most popular competition since early 2021, when the PUBG Mobile Global Championship Season 0 set a PUBG Mobile record of 3.8 million peak live viewers, and #2 on the all-time table.
Two languages played a key role in this livestreaming spike, with Burmese reaching a new PUBG Mobile record in terms of PV. The language hit 145,119 peak concurrent viewers, over five times higher than the previous record, as fans from Myanmar witnessed possibly its greatest esports moment.
With an Indian representative seen once again in competitive PUBG Mobile, Hindi viewers showed constant interest throughout. The language reached its highest PV figure in the game since early 2022, when teams from the country were last participating consistently in international championships.

We also have to mention the role of Nepali and Tagalog, which also saw new PUBG Mobile records by peak live viewers. The former, one of the biggest contributors to the game's livestreaming numbers over the last few years, recorded 177,781 PV as its sole representative, Horaa Esports, finished ninth, while it also contributed the most to the competition's cumulative watch time.
Tagalog, meanwhile, mainly had the official Facebook channel to thank for reaching 145,032 peak concurrent viewers, almost 30,000 more than the previous record achieved at last year's iteration. With no team of its own to support, audiences in the Philippines saw their interest rise around the good performances of Thai side eArena, the reigning PUBG Mobile Super League - Southeast Asia Summer 2025 champion.
The importance of Hindi and Nepali was also seen in the fact that two of its community casters, Raj "Snax Gaming" Varma and Sanjan "Cr7 HORAA" Gautam, respectively, emerged as the most-watched channels, outperforming official channels. They also ended among the five most popular channels, with Snax Gaming topping both tables as the hype for PUBG Mobile was as high as it had been in a while in India.

When looking at the Esports World Cup 2025, the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2025 is now its second-most popular tournament. It even beat the PV number of the League of Legends event, which has not happened often recently, and will no doubt be pleasing to the organizers and the mobile battle royale shooter's stakeholders.
It's been a while since PUBG Mobile fans have seen an event that was as successful as its early 2020s heyday. The return of one of its most substantial markets, coupled with a surprise winner that reiterated the unpredictability of PUBG Mobile esports, was crucial to this success.
The next global tournament in the game will be its biggest, the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2025. It is slated to be held in Thailand at the end of the year, with almost 40 teams set to battle it out for international glory and acclaim. Whether it can back up the good work done in Saudi Arabia remains to be seen, but the potential is certainly there.
