The spring regional events of League of Legends have come to an end, and all the participants of the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational 2022 have been determined. In the new article, Esports Charts provides an overview of the results of the spring splits as well as a mutual comparison of their performance.

LCK remains the most popular regional LoL league. The spring split amassed over 74.2M Hours Watched and 1.37M Peak Viewers during the final T1 vs Gen.G, and these are record-setting figures for the league. Such an audience was largely amassed thanks to the brilliant performance of the most popular team in the region, T1, which became the champion, finishing the group stage undefeated and losing only one map in the playoffs.

LEC saw a slight decrease in all metrics aside from Average Viewers but managed to hold on to the second spot in the league ranking with 36.5M Hours Watched and 723K Peak Viewers. In particular, spectators of the spring split largely followed G2 Esports, which roster went through a radical reshuffle before the start of the season. The team became the champion by winning twelve maps in a row after dropping to the lower bracket of LEC playoffs.

The Hours Watched figures for LCS and CBLOL were nearly identical, but the North American league amassed 21% more Peak Viewers and thus closed the top 3 by Hours Watched.

In 2021, eleven teams qualified for MSI instead of twelve, as GAM Esports was unable to leave Vietnam due to coronavirus restrictions. This time it is the representative of the Continental League (LCL) that will be missing – as the latter was canceled due to the outbreak of a military conflict in Ukraine. In addition, Royal Never Give Up, the best team of LPL, will participate in MSI 2022 remotely because of the coronavirus pandemic in China.

LPL remained on the fifth spot with almost 15.5M Hours Watched, while the deciding match between Royal Never Give Up and Top Esports Gaming gathered 212.8K Peak Viewers. It should be noted that LPL turned out to be the longest regional league of the spring (more than 400 hours on the air), while LLA was the shortest one (107 hours on the air).

VCS took the sixth spot in all metrics, while GAM Esports once again became the champion of the league. At the same time, the team will miss MSI 2022 in favor of the 31st Southeast Asian Games. In this regard, Vietnam will be represented at the international championship by the region’s second-best team Saigon Buffalo.

Compared to the spring splits of 2021, the metrics of LLA and TCL have dropped by almost a third, which is why PCS and LJL have risen to the 7-8 spots. The audience of LCO has shown slight growth, but the league once again took the last spot with less than 500K Hours Watched and 21.3K Peak Viewers.

In addition to the LEC, Europe also features local leagues whose audience significantly outnumbers some of the above tournaments. Some examples include LFL and LVP Superliga, which are not part of the international League of Legends system. But they have their own major tournament: European Masters Spring 2022, the final stage of which is already in full swing.

Mid-Season Invitational 2022 is the second most prestigious tournament after the Worlds, which will be held from May 10 to 29 in Busan, South Korea. The 2022 Summer Splits start in June.
