EU Masters Spring 2022: Viewership Stats and Results of Regional Leagues

The most important European League of Legends tournament outside the LEC cycle and international MSI / Worlds events is the European Masters. As part of the European Masters Spring 2022, which started on April 4, 28 best teams from eleven regional leagues are fighting for a share of the total prize pool of €150K. Previously, Esports Charts reviewed the Spanish and French leagues, and in the new article, we will talk about the results and viewership statistics of the remaining nine regional leagues, whose representatives made it to the European Masters Spring 2022.

Prime League 1st Division Spring 2022

The German Prime League is one of the four regional leagues in Europe, organized directly by Riot Games (The main sponsor of the league is the workwear brand Engelbert Strauss, which is why the tournament is often called the Strauss Prime League). Three of its strongest teams received slots at the EU Masters: GamerLegion, Eintracht Spandau, and Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition. The top 5 of the event also included the rosters of such famous clubs as BIG and MOUZ.

The Eintracht Spandau team attracted the most attention from the audience. It has generated about 50% more Hours Watched and Average Viewers than GamerLegion (the closest competitor) and has achieved the same numbers as BIG and MOUZ combined.

Ultraliga Season 7

The Polish league Ultraliga Season 7 at EU Masters Spring 2022 is represented by four teams at once. At the same time, AGO ROGUE and Team ESCA Gaming started their performance in the group stage, while Iron Wolves and Zero Tenacity started their performance in the Play-In stage. Note that AGO ROGUE lost only 3 maps in the entire regional league.

All four entered the top 5 most popular teams of Ultraliga Season 7. At the same time, there is no clear leader in terms of audience size among them, as each of the teams was followed by a little over 5K Average Viewers.

GLL 2022 Spring

As part of the Greek Legends League Spring 2022, only two slots were up for grabs at the EU Masters. In the decisive match of the league, Team Phantasma beat We Love Gaming with a score of 3:2, thus taking revenge on the opponent for the crushing defeat in the GLL 2021 Winter grand final.

It should be noted that becoming most popular among the tournament’s audience were not the finalists or playoff participants, but the Olympiacos Alimou team, which took the fifth spot. Matches with its participation gained 4.3K Average Viewers, while the matches of We Love Gaming and Team Phantasma were followed by 4.2K and 4.1K Average Viewers, respectively.

NLC Spring 2022

The first division of the Northern European league NLC Spring 2022 at the EU Masters is also represented by only two teams: X7 Esports and Bifrost. Notably, the teams finished the group stage with the same statistics and fought in the winners' final on all five maps, but in the grand final everything ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of X7 Esports. Note that this league was held with the support of Riot Games.

Closing the top 5 most popular teams of the tournament were the finalists, having fewer Average Viewers than JD-XL, Dusty, and Riddle. At the same time, the grand final of X7 Esports against Bifrost gathered 4.2K Peak Viewers, taking the third spot in terms of this indicator within the league.

PG Nationals Spring 2022

As part of the Italian league PG Nationals Spring 2022, two slots were up for grabs at the EU Masters Spring. Macko Esports performed well in the group stage of the tournament, confidently defeated the Atleta Esport team in the winners' final, but, to the surprise of the fans, lost to them in the grand final with a score of 0:3. In the end, Atleta Esport got a spot in the EU Masters Spring group stage, while Macko Esports got into the Play-In.

The most popular teams were Axolotl and Samsung Morning Stars, finishing sixth and eighth in the league. Matches with their participation gathered 2.2K Average Viewers. One of the first matches of the group stage between Axolotl and Macko Esports gathered the largest number of Peak Viewers, as more than 5K viewers watched this meeting at the same time.

LPLOL 2022 Spring

LPLOL 2022 Spring is one of the top three leagues, the best teams of which cannot get into the EU Masters group stage without going through the Play-In. The best team in the Portuguese league was For The Win Esports, while EGN Esports came in second.

At the same time, the finalists gathered fewer viewers at their matches than the White Dragons, who took the third spot in the league. The games of this team were followed by 1.8K Average Viewers, which is 25% more than the tournament’s overall indicator.

EBL Spring 2022

The best teams of Esports Balkan League Season 10 were Crvena zvezda Esports and Valiance. At the end of the group stage of the league, both teams shared the same statistics of wins and losses, but in the playoffs, Crvena zvezda Esports showed much more successful performance. First, it came on top in the finals of the winners, and then in the grand finals of the event.

The finalists collected more than 52K Hours Watched and became the most popular teams in the league. The matches of Crvena zvezda Esports and Valiance games were watched by 2.4K and 2K Average Viewers, respectively.

Hitpoint Masters 2022 Spring

The Czech Hitpoint Masters 2022 Spring is another league whose participants could not qualify for the EU Masters group stage without going through the Play-In. Entropiq and eSuba took first and second spots in both the group stage and overall league results. At the same time, Entropiq showed such a confident performance that its losses were limited to only two maps for the entire event.

The matches of Entropiq and eSuba were followed by 1.85K and 1.75K Average Viewers, respectively – these are the best indicators among the participants of the Hitpoint Masters 2022 Spring. Curiously, the grand final with the participation of these teams gathered fewer Peak Viewers (3.5K) than their encounter in the finals of the winners (4.7K).

Elite Series 2022 Spring

The best teams of the Elite Series 2022 Spring also have to start their performance at the EU Masters from the Play-In stage. KRC Genk Esports and mCon esports were beating one another throughout the event, but the decisive match still went in favor of KRC Genk Esports.

Both teams got into the top 5 popular teams of the tournament but did not become leaders in terms of Average Viewers. The matches of Team Echo Zulu attracted 2.5K Average Viewers, which is 16% more than KRC Genk Esports and 36% more than mCon esports.

The most popular league reviewed in this article was Prime League 1st Division Spring 2022. Its performance was several times worse than that of the French and Spanish, but ten times better than that of most other leagues. In total, Prime League 1st Division Spring 2022 generated 2.3M Hours Watched, more than 18K Average Viewers, and more than 79K Peak Viewers.

As many as five leagues generated less than 200K Hours Watched and 6K Peak Viewers. Elite Series 2022 Spring had the lowest viewership among all regional qualifiers for the EU Masters.

In general, many European leagues attracted the same audience on broadcasts. Only France, Spain and Germany stand out strongly against the background of others.
