In a new article Esports Charts sums up the competition results and tells about its audience statistics.

RMR 2021 tournaments:

Europe:

CIS:

North America:

South America:

Ocenia:

Asia:

Firstly, let's see how many viewers tuned in to watch games in different regions on Twitch: the main broadcasting platform of CS:GO events. The biggest number of Unique Viewers in RMR 2021 was accumulated by the European teams. Their tournaments were watched by more than 3.9 million Unique Viewers — 66% higher than the tournaments in the CIS had (2.3 million viewers).

The third and fourth places were taken by North America attracting 1.4 million Unique Viewers, and South America, which attracted almost half as many — about 759K Unique Viewers. Asia and Oceania ranked last again with 170K and 160K Unique Viewers.

The most watched region of RMR 2021 season was Europe, the region with the highest level of competition. European RMR tournaments had over 100K Average Viewers — no other region has managed to make higher numbers than that.

North America was the closest runner-up to the European teams. The Average Viewers number of matches in this region was 74.5K people — the Portuguese speaking spectators (Brazilians) helped it, bringing most of the viewers. Their interest in the North American division is related to the players who play in this region. For example, Brazilian legend Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo is a member of Team Liquid, one of the most famous teams in the region, and the rosters of GODSENT and FURIA Esports are represented entirely by Brazilian e-athletes.

The third place was taken by teams from the CIS. Their matches were watched by 47K Average Viewers. The region was only 10K spectators ahead of teams from South America.

Oceania and Asia showed the lowest results, reaching 2.9K and 2.6K Average Viewers, respectively. The reason for this low activity is the lack of teams that are familiar to viewers on the world stage. The most famous team from Oceania, EXTREMUM, plays in North America.

Despite the low Average Viewers, the CIS managed to reach the highest Peak Viewers of 331.2K people on its broadcast. The same number of viewers watched the StarLadder CIS RMR 2021 Grand Final between NAVI and Gambit Esports.

Before the final match, the teams had already clashed twice in StarLadder CIS RMR 2021. Just as in the final match, these matches were among the five most popular at the tournament with 228K and 202K Peak Viewers.respectively.

Europe came in second place with 254,2K Peak Viewers. Notably, this audience gathered at the scandalous tiebreaker match between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Anonymo Esports in Flashpoint Season 3. The first time the teams played together was on May 14, when Anonymo defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-1. After the defeat, NiP players said that there were problems with the Internet during the match, due to which the organizers of Flashpoint Season 3 scheduled a tiebreaker. Ninjas in Pyjamas won it with a score of 2-1.

In third place was North America with 170K Peak Viewers who watched the IEM Fall 2021 match between FURIA and 00nation: it is noteworthy that only Brazilian teams competed in the match.

South America comes in fourth, with a Peak Viewers number of 90K spectators at the CBCS Elite League Season 1 final between Sharks Esports and MlBR. Both teams are very popular among Brazilian CS:GO fans.

The last positions were taken by Oceania and Asia with 16.2K and 10.6K Peak Viewers, respectively. These numbers were reached at IEM Fall 2021 thanks to ORDER vs. VERTEX and TyLoo vs. CHECKMATE matches.

In addition to Peak Viewers, NAVI also distinguished itself with the highest Hours Watched number. The team had 6.8 million Hours Watched in the competitive season. However, it should be noted that RMR for the CIS included three events — EPIC CIS League Spring 2021, StarLadder CIS RMR 2021 and IEM Fall 2021. The other regions (except South America) had only two RMR tournaments each.

Second place went to Ninjas in Pyjamas with 5.5 million Hours Watched. Apart from NiP and NAVI, not a single team managed to accumulate more than 5 million Hours Watched in RMR 2021. Another team from the CIS, Gambit, took the bronze. The team won two of the three RMR events and had 4.7 million Hours Watched.

G2 and FURIA were also in the top five by Hours Watched with 3.6 million and 3.2 million hours, respectively. Astralis (3 million HW), Vitality (2.5 million HW), BIG (2.5 million HW), Liquid (2.5 million HW) and Heroic (2.1 million HW) round out the top 10.

The first match between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Anonymo on Flashpoint Season 3 had the peak number of English-speaking viewers — 137,5K spectators. The match was Nikolai "dev1ce" Ridtz's debut in NiP after leaving Astralis, which is why interest was so high.

Portuguese was second in terms of accumulated Hours Watched in the season. The Brazilians generated 20.3 million Hours Watched (25% of the total number), and 126.2K Peak Viewers were reached during the FURIA vs. 00nation match at IEM Fall 2021.

Third place went to the Russian-speaking audience, which accumulated 19.7 million Hours Watched at RMR 2021 (24.3% of the total number). The maximum number of concurrent Russian-speaking viewers — 242K — was registered during the final match of StarLadder CIS RMR 2021 between NAVI and Gambit.
