Samsung Odyssey Invitational is one of the most successful Apex Legends streaming events
On December 15, the Samsung Odyssey Invitational Apex Legends tournament was held. Some of the most popular American Twitch streamers competed for $100K.
The team of Christopher Sweetdreams Sexton, a professional NRG player, became a champion. The second place was taken by the team of Lindsay LuluLuvely, the content creator of the same esports organization. Among other stars who took part in the event were xQc, TSM_ImperialHal, iiTzTimmy, Diegosaurs, xChocoBars, CouRage, ShivFPS, daltoosh, Euriece and others.
The organizer and the main sponsor of the tournament was Samsung, one of the largest companies producing electronics and household appliances. It is surprising that Apex Legends was chosen as the esports discipline for the championship, because major show tournaments for this game are not held that often.
Samsung Odyssey Invitational did not go that well as it received a lot of criticism from both participants and fans. People complained about the lack of media coverage of the tournament and the official broadcast, as well as the odd rules by which the teams were formed.
Nevertheless, the event managed to become the most popular Apex Legends tournament of December (so far), attracting 168K Peak Viewers and 151K Average Viewers.

The most viewed Odyssey Invitational streamers were xQc, TSM_ImperialHal and iiTzTimmy, who brought the tournament in total 407K Hours Watched (64.5% of the total HW of the event). At the same time, xQc managed to gain 80.5K PV, which is almost twice as many as TSM_ImperialHal and iiTzTimmy got together.
Despite the criticism, Odyssey Invitational has achieved some success in terms of audience reach, which indicates the great potential of the next streamer tournaments from Samsung. We hope the organizers will take into account all the mistakes and will hold an even more prestigious competition next time.
