As the 2025 esports season hits its stride, the balance between teamwork and individual brilliance continues to define the competition. Success in games like Valorant, League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, or Counter-Strike is always a collective effort, but certain players shine so consistently and so decisively that their individual impact becomes impossible to ignore.
This quarter’s standouts were no strangers to the spotlight. From reigning MVPs to longtime fan favorites, they entered Q2 with expectations and still managed to exceed them. Whether dominating international stages or carrying their teams through domestic battles, each player on this list proved indispensable.
And while Team Vitality remains the lone repeat appearance from Q1, even their spotlight has shifted: a different name, a different role, same world-class results. These are the players who left their mark on Q2, not just executing their role, but redefining what it means to excel in it.
League of Legends
Gen.G were on another level in the second quarter. From domestic dominance to international qualification, they tore through every challenge in front of them: extending their match win streak past 23 series, cruising through LCK's Road to MSI, and maintaining an undefeated run in the LCK regular season as Q2 came to a close. Even without an official LCK title this quarter, their level of control over the region was undeniable.
At the heart of that run was Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon. Always known for his precision and laning prowess, he added another layer to his game this split, balancing efficiency with more daring, playmaking moments that shifted the momentum of entire matches. His signature Azir returned to form, and his pentakill against Hanwha Life Esports in May was a highlight not just for style but for how confidently he controlled the map.
While Gen.G’s Mid-Season Invitational title defense officially came in Q3, it was built on the foundation laid in Q2, and Chovy was one of the key architects.
Counter-Strike
While Gen.G set the pace in League of Legends in Q2, Team Vitality has ruled the Counter-Strike scene from the very start of 2025. The team’s dominance was clear all season long, but unlike Q1, where we spotlighted Robin "ropz" Kool as a nod to the rising newcomer, Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was the true statistical leader both then and now.
In Q2, ZywOo continued to lead Vitality with unmatched consistency and impact, securing MVP honors at major events including IEM Melbourne, IEM Dallas, and the BLAST.tv Austin Major. His performances didn’t just help Vitality win but also showed what it really takes to be the best player in the new CS2 era.
Team Vitality’s crushing dominance throughout the first half of 2025 shows no signs of slowing down. With almost unstoppable runs across the biggest tournaments, their performance ranks among the most commanding in CS history in years, if not decades. At the core of this powerhouse is ZywOo, whose relentless consistency and peak-level performances have been a foundation for Vitality’s near-invincibility. As other teams scramble to find answers, Vitality and ZywOo continue setting the bar impossibly high.

Valorant
The competitive landscape in Valorant this season has been more even and unpredictable compared to the dominance seen in Counter-Strike and League of Legends. Amid this fierce competition, Paper Rex emerged as one of the clear standouts in Q2, capturing their first major international title by winning Masters Toronto. Their victory sent a strong message: this team is a serious contender on the global stage.
Central to Paper Rex’s success was Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto, who played a crucial role both as a top-performing flex player and as the team’s in-game leader. Managing to combine these two demanding responsibilities is no small feat: many players struggle to balance the focus required for peak individual play with the strategic mindset needed to lead a team. But f0rsakeN consistently rose to the challenge, delivering clutch plays, high-impact rounds, and sharp shot-calling that kept Paper Rex ahead of their opponents.
Adding to his impact was his remarkable versatility across agents. f0rsakeN showcased a broad skill set that made him unpredictable and difficult to counter, from wielding duelist firepower on Neon and Yoru to supporting with utility on Killjoy and Sova. This flexibility, paired with his leadership and mechanical prowess, made him one of the most indispensable players in Valorant during Q2.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
With one of Mobile Legends’ main international showdowns, MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025, only just beginning, this quarter’s player spotlight had to be drawn from domestic leagues. And when it comes to producing top-tier international contenders, the Philippines remains the gold standard. Filipino teams have consistently outperformed their Indonesian rivals on the global stage in recent years, making the MPL Philippines a natural place to look. And among all the local talent, one name stood out clearly: Kiel "Oheb" Q.Soriano, gold-laner for Season 15 champions Team Liquid PH.
A former world champion and still one of the region’s most feared laners, Oheb was back to his best in Season 15. He was named Regular Season MVP, led the league in core stats like kills and gold-per-minute, and capped it all off with a brilliant Game 7 performance on Granger in the grand final, sealing the championship and underlining just how essential he is to Team Liquid’s success.
Now, with international play heating up, the spotlight shifts to Riyadh. Team Liquid PH will soon face the world’s best at the EWC Mid Season Cup playoffs, and their campaign will be one of the biggest tests yet of Filipino MLBB’s continued dominance. If they hope to lift the trophy, there’s little doubt they’ll need Oheb to be in top form once again.
