Bandai Namco's Tekken World Tour 2022 season finale was held on February 4-5 in Amsterdam. The tournament saw the best result by Peak Viewers in the history of the series with only EVO championships being more popular in regard to the discipline as a whole.

Tekken World Tour is an international Tekken esports league that spans four regions and dozens of countries. Tekken World Tour was first held in 2017, and since then the league has been held almost every year (the finals of 2020 and 2021 were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic).

Tournament Results

Tekken World Tour offers players around the world the opportunity to earn ranking points for prizes at major tournaments like Evolution Championship Series, Community Effort Orlando, VSFighting, etc. These points are used to compile a ranking, with the best players making it to Tekken World Tour Finals. Winners of national and regional qualifiers also qualify for the final tournament.

Comparison With Other Tournaments

Tekken World Tour 2022 Global Finals has become the most popular tournament in the series by Peak Viewers. It also has become the fourth most popular in the history of the discipline, but still lagged far behind EVO 2018, EVO 2019, and the record-breaking EVO 2022 Tekken.

Most Popular Tekken Tournaments

In terms of popularity, the recent Tekken World Tour can compete with other top fighting game tournaments (but not with all of them). For example, the Average and Peak Viewers numbers are comparable to those of EVO 2022 Dragon Ball FighterZ and EVO 2022 Mortal Kombat 11, while Street Fighter, Super Smash Bros., and Guilty Gear tournaments that took place at EVO 2022 had 2-3 times more Peak Viewers. However, the Tekken tournament at EVO drew more than 250K PV

Comparison of Tekken World Tour with Major Fighting Games Tournaments

Tekken is one of the most popular fighting disciplines in esports, so it's no surprise that Tekken World Tour draws tens of thousands of viewers. Nevertheless, the seasonal league cannot yet boast the same audience as the EVO events. Perhaps it's worth considering holding Tekken World Tour Finals in North America, where fighting games are very popular.
