Thunderpick World Championship 2023 Group Stage attracts 144K Peak Viewers thanks to Gaules' broadcasts

The Group Stage of the online Counter-Strike 2 tournament Thunderpick World Championship 2023 has come to an end. Out of the 16 participants, only 8 teams will continue the race for the championship title and a prize pool of $500,000. Unfortunately for Brazilian fans, FURIA Esports, the leader of the Group Stage in terms of Average Viewers per match, has already been eliminated from the competition. 

Cloud9, Virtus.pro, FaZe Clan, Monte, Team Spirit, MOUZ, Heroic, and BIG have advanced to the Playoffs bracket. The final stage, in the form of a single-elimination bracket, will take place from November 3 to November 5.

Thunderpick World Championship 2023 Group Stage’s most popular matches

The Group Stage matches of the Thunderpick World Championship 2023 accumulated nearly 1.8 million Hours Watched. The Average Viewers number during the broadcasts amounted to 30K, while the Peak Viewers number reached 144.3K. The most popular match in the Group Stage was the elimination match between FURIA Esports and BIG: Brazilian players lost with a score of 1:2.

FURIA Esports and BIG faced off twice in the Group Stage. These teams far surpassed other tournament participants in terms of Hours Watched and Average Viewers, thanks to Gaules streams, who covered the FURIA Esports matches.

Interestingly, there was a nearly equal distribution of Hours Watched among the main broadcast languages (Russian, English, and Portuguese), with each receiving 28-31% of the total. However, Portuguese emerged as the undisputed leader in terms of Peak Viewers, as Gaules attracted more viewers to his channel than all other language broadcasts combined. 

The Thunderpick World Championship 2023 has not yet concluded, but it has already become the most popular tournament in the series. Before that the series record was held by European Series #1, which was essentially a regional qualifiers for the World Championship. Worth noting that FURIA Esports played at the event, and it was one of their matches to reach 120K concurrent viewers (also thanks to Gaules, as all other matches of the same competition gather less than 30K Peak Viewers).
