Thunderpick World Championship 2025 sets series’ viewership record
Thunderpick World Championship 2025 wrapped up in Malta. The Tier-A Counter-Strike tournament featured top teams including Natus Vincere, Aurora Gaming and The MongolZ, among others. Players competed for a $340,000 prize pool, and in a surprising turn, the Brazilian team FURIA emerged as the champion. Their victory helped the tournament set a new all-time viewership record for the Thunderpick series.
Eight teams competed in the Thunderpick World Championship 2025. The group stage went smoothly, with Natus Vincere, Aurora Gaming, The MongolZ and FURIA all advancing to the playoffs without any issues.
In the finals, Natus Vincere came close to taking the series against FURIA, but after falling behind 0:2 in maps, the Brazilian team staged an incredible comeback to win 3:2. On the decisive map, Train, FURIA completely dominated with a 13:1 round score. This marked the first time in the history of major Counter-Strike tournaments that a team had come back from a two-map deficit in a best-of-five series.

This victory marks FURIA’s second tournament win of the year. In September, the team claimed the championship at FISSURE Playground #2. As of now, FURIA is ranked among the top five teams in the world, according to both HLTV and the VRS rankings — the best standing in the club’s history.
Thunderpick World Championship 2025 Viewership results

The Thunderpick World Championship 2025 racked up just over 4.7 million Hours Watched. The tournament reached a peak of 399,500 concurrent viewers, setting a new record for the series. This represents a 62% increase compared to last year’s event.
The grand final between FURIA and Natus Vincere was the tournament’s most-popular match. For this and many other events, this finalist pairing is considered a “dream scenario” for viewership. NAVI boasts a huge global fan base, while FURIA’s home audience is extremely active, and top community casters usually cover their matches. However, this time Brazilian fans were left disappointed by Alexandre “Gaules” Borba Chiqueta — the streamer didn’t cover the Thunderpick World Championship 2025 matches and instead focused on the CS Asia Championships 2025.
With Gaules absent, the MADHOUSE TV studio channel became the primary Portuguese-language broadcaster for the Thunderpick World Championship 2025. During the grand final, the channel drew over 206,000 Peak Viewers, achieving the second-highest viewership in its history.
Portuguese-language broadcasts were the main driver of the Thunderpick World Championship 2025, leading in all key metrics. English and Mongolian streams also ranked in the top three, but even combined, their numbers didn’t match Portuguese. Had Gaules covered the event, the tournament’s overall viewership figures would likely have been even higher.

The Thunderpick World Championship 2025 has become the most popular tournament in the series’ history. The trend over the past few years shows that the series is steadily growing in popularity and is starting to compete with Tier-S tournaments not just in prize money and participating teams, but also in audience reach.
