Korean, Japanese viewers remain crucial as Sin Prisa Gaming wins VCT 2024: Ascension Pacific

The last Ascension event in the top tier of Valorant esports for the 2024 season — Pacific — has concluded, registering more viewers than last year. The winner joins the victor from the three other regions in their respective affiliate leagues of next seasons Champions Tour.

Ten of the best sides from the combined markets of Asia and Oceania battled it out over ten days for a shot at reaching the highest level of the game's competitive scene. With a total prize pool of $100,000 also on the line, it was Sin Prisa Gaming after going unbeaten who emerged triumphant to take home $20,000 as winnings.

The Korean side beat BOOM Esports 3:2 in a thriller to seal its ticket in the VCT Pacific 2025 circuit. The Grand Final was also the most popular match at this tournament, hitting 226.6K Peak Viewers, a hike of almost 22% from last year's outing, which was also the inaugural edition of this event.

The VCT 2024: Ascension Pacific also notched 4M Hours Watched and 69.8K Average Viewers over an airtime of 57 hours. The watch time was a minor reduction of 6.7% from 2023, but considering the massive difference in the broadcast time (last year's iteration ran for almost 30 hours more), these viewership figures are more than solid.

VCT 2024: Ascension Pacific – most popular sides

Looking at the most popular teams list at this Valorant tournament, there was a clear favorite among viewers, with this side making multiple appearances on the most popular matches table. Unfortunately for fans, it could not go all the way, getting knocked out in the Lower Bracket and settling for a top-five finish.

Japanese and Korean were big movers compared to the Valorant Challengers Ascension 2023: Pacific, which was down to the performance of its teams. While the latter had reason to cheer via Sin Prisa Gaming's winning run, the fans of the former — known for being one of the most vociferous in the game — cheered every move of its representative, Riddle.

A mention must also go to the home fans in Indonesia for following its team, BOOM Esports, right through, with their support seeing the language see a jump of 154% in its PV. Thai fans, too, put in the work as their representative, FULL SENSE, finished third, helping the language increase its peak concurrent viewership by 91% from 2023.

However, Riddle could only make the Lower Bracket Semifinal, where it lost to BOOM Esports. If it had gone further, there was a high chance that this event could have done better PV numbers and perhaps even beaten its 2023 predecessor by watch time.

Nevertheless, Japanese still managed to improve its peak concurrent viewership figures by an impressive 80.2%. Korean had an even bigger jump, seeing its PV number spike by a whopping 480.6%, with Sin Prisa Gaming becoming the 12th team to join the VCT Pacific League next year.

There were a lot more channels also live streaming the matches this year compared to 2023. This included new platforms like Kick, SOOP, TikTok, and CHZZK, increasing exposure for the tournament and helping its watch time despite the lesser airtime.

It's been a pretty important year for Valorant, with many of its competitions doing really well and ending among the discipline's most successful ever. With the season now taking a break, it remains to be seen what news we get in terms of roster changes and the upcoming season.
