VCT LOCK//IN — Omega Group kicks off with surprising match results
Yesterday, we saw the first teams on VCT 2023: LOCK//IN’s Omega Group show off their new rosters. During three intense matches, Valorant fans could watch the likes of KRÜ Esports and Team Liquid fight for their ascension to the Quarter Finals. Despite high expectations, Liquid’s star roster was already dethroned in their first game of the season. Here are the latest updates on VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo.

The VCT LOCK//IN Omega Group started with a match between Team Liquid and Team Secret. With star players like nAts and soulcas, Liquid was expected to be a strong contestant. However, Team Secret showed off high-class teamplay and ultimately beat Liquid 2:0 in a dominating fashion. Less surprising was Natus Vincere’s victory over KRÜ Esports in the second match of the day. Although KRÜ performed better on Lotus than Ascent, NAVI managed to come out on top, taking the series 2:0. The final match-up of the day was ZETA DIVISION versus Leviatán. Once again, one team outperformed the other. Leviatán won on Ascent and Pearl, ending the day with a third 2:0.

While Liquid, KRÜ, and ZETA have to go home, their opponents have advanced to Omega Group’s Quarter Finals. Secret and NAVI will face each other on February 25. Leviatán will either compete against Team Vitality or Global Esports. Until then, we’ll watch other Omega teams make their first VCT appearance of the year. Meanwhile, Group Alpha has concluded already. The first face of VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo saw LOUD and DRX VS qualify for the Playoffs, where they’ll face each other next.

Yesterday was the third-most watched game day of the VCT LOCK//IN by major metrics. Japanese fans contributed to this success. Over 200,000 Japanese fans cheered on the country’s most popular team ZETA DIVISION. ZETA’S match against Leviatán also became the top 5 most-watched series of VCT LOCK//IN so far. It attracted more than 500,000 Peak Viewers. In comparison, English viewership peaked at about 190,000. Furthermore, fan dedication catapulted ZETA among the top 5 most popular LOCK//IN teams by Average Viewers despite only having played one match. With the elimination of the squad from the tournament, we can expect a viewership drop in the upcoming days.
However, LOUD remains the number-one team in terms of viewership. Similarly, its Group Alpha Semifinals against NRG is the most-watched game of the tournament thus far. Nearly 890,000 Peak Viewers witnessed LOUD beat NRG.
Today at 5 pm GMT+0, VCT 2023 LOCK//IN Sao Paulo continues with Team Vitality versus Global Esports. Afterward, FUT Esports will play against Rex Regum Qeon. Other highly-anticipated teams, including 100 Thieves and Sentinels, will follow on February 24. This week has a lot in stock for Valorant fans, and we’re excited to see it all play out.
