Past weekend, the first matches of the lower bracket were held, and the finalists in the winners’ bracket were determined at VCT 2022: Stage 1 Masters Reykjavík. On April 16, ZETA DIVISION defeated  Team Liquid, while Paper Rex managed to subdue  The Guard in the relegation matches. The first game ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the Japanese team. At the same time, the score shows that there was no real fight on any of the maps — 13:7 on Fracture, 4:13 on Haven, and 13:7 on Split.

Paper Rex became the winner of the second match of the day. Interestingly, the best team of the Asia-Pacific qualifiers defeated the strongest team of the North American qualifiers with a score of 2:0 — 13:10 at Haven and 13:8 at Split.

The matches of the first round of the lower bracket of the playoffs generated 2.49M Hours Watched. The most popular match of the day and currently the entire tournament was the meeting between ZETA DIVISION and Team Liquid, which gathered more than 643K Peak Viewers. It is noteworthy that broadcasts in Japanese attracted 286.8K Peak Viewers and exceeded the English-language streams by the indicator.

Taking place on April 17 were the matches for reaching the finals of the upper bracket of the playoffs. The first match of the day was the meeting between  OpTic Gaming and DRX. In a bitter struggle, the team of Pujan FNS Mehta won with a score of 2:1 — 8:13 on Ascent, 13:11 on Icebox, and 15:13 on Split.

In the second match of the day, the youth roster of the Brazilian club  LOUD, created in early February, defeated the top European team G2 Esports with a score of 2:0 — 13:5 on Ascent and 13:11 on Breeze. More than 605K Peak Viewers watched this confrontation, which made it the most popular match of the day.

In total, the semi-finals of the upper bracket generated more than 2.6M Hours Watched, and the streams in English attracted 273.8K Peak Viewers. Portuguese-language broadcasts ranked second in terms of this indicator.

On April 22, LOUD will face OpTic Gaming in the upper bracket finals. And today, on April 18, the matches of the second round of the lower bracket will take place: DRX vs. ZETA DIVISION and G2 Esports vs. Paper Rex. The losing teams will leave the tournament, taking the 5th-6th spot.
