Most popular Dota 2 teams of 2018

Posted May 01, 2019

A bit earlier, our portal announced the past year's results. At the same time, we have prepared more detailed statistics with the ranking of teams for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Today we are intending to tell you about the most popular Dota 2 teams of 2018.

First, we should tell about the unusual indicators our data contains. For example, it is no secret that the popularity of OG has skyrocketed at The International and the tournaments following it. At the same time, there were teams that have gradually worked towards their current popularity throughout the year.

Among these, Natus Vincere deserves a special mention. This organization still has a huge fan base that was following the team for a long time. The long-time history and the large amount of titles obtained serve to further strengthen this particular tag. Their top management has also raised the stakes in the end of the year, abandoning Dendi in favor of including a younger player in the Dota 2 team, which is something that happened for the first time since the team's creation.

Quite predictably, VP and PSG.LGD are also at the top at the ranking. Both teams occupied the leading positions in many international championships throughout the season. In addition, the great popularity of the game in the CIS region played right into the hands of “the bears”, resulting in them becoming the world's most popular Dota 2 team.

Vici Gaming have managed to climb to a surprisingly high spot, being the second team to represent China in the ranking. We remind that we do not take into account the platforms of this country – which means that the total viewhours of this team were generated not by its native audience, but rather through the effort of all the other fans from both the Western Hemisphere and Southeast Asia.

Surprisingly, 3 American organizations have managed to enter the top 10 at the same time. While having a European team, Liquid is still representing North America. They are also the World Championship winners and have not changed their lineup since then.

Along with them, Evil Geniuses have also climbed to the top. This organization had a team for this discipline for a long time, resulting in a solid fanbase. An amazing change in the lineup has worked towards the team's popularity – and at The International, its five players were subjected to close attention of the fans of OG's “golden age”.

Our team is not going to stop at this, and the upcoming materials about the results of 2018 will soon be there for you to read. In order to not miss those, we recommend you to subscribe to our pages on Twitter, Facebook and Vkontakte. Do not forget about our Discord server, which is open for anyone's inquiries.
