What a way to kick off June in esports! Yesterday saw the conclusion of one of early summer’s biggest tournaments — the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 in the United States. The event delivered a thrilling, drama-filled grand final, capping off weeks of intense competition.
Along the way, new live viewership records were set, and many of them on the final day. Esports Charts takes a closer look at the major milestones achieved, both within Counter-Strike and across the broader esports landscape.
Perhaps the most headline-grabbing milestone came just moments before the grand final began. The tournament officially became the most-watched Counter-Strike event of all time, surpassing a record that had stood since 2021. That previous peak was set during the first post-pandemic Major, which drew huge interest after the competitive scene’s long pause.
The new record stands at an astonishing 76,136,914 Hours Watched, and it’ll be exciting to see how long it remains unbeaten.

Among other record-breaking moments we haven’t yet highlighted, one stands out as especially significant for the industry: Counter-Strike esports set a new peak viewership record on YouTube, surpassing 633,000 concurrent viewers.
As with the Hours Watched milestone, the previous record had been held since PGL Major Stockholm 2021, and this time, it was beaten by nearly 30%. BLAST’s expansive YouTube coverage, combined with heightened activity from community streamers, clearly paid off.
The Major also delivered two more global milestones. Most notably, Mongolian-language broadcasts peaked at over 98,000 concurrent viewers, a new all-time high. With The MongolZ continuing to make waves internationally, Mongolian viewership has been on a steady rise, and another record could be just around the corner.
Several local-language milestones within the Counter-Strike scene were also set, with new peak viewership figures achieved in French, Chinese, Hungarian, and Norwegian.
BLAST’s own streaming platform, BLAST.tv, saw major growth as well. Its concurrent viewership nearly tripled during the event, reaching over 15,000 viewers.
Lastly, certain additional viewership milestones were reached on the event's official YouTube channel and across community streams.
