ESL Pro League Season 21 set a new series record for the average viewership
ESL Pro League Season 21, held in Stockholm, became the most consistently watched tournament in the series, with an average viewership per match surpassing 200,000 for the first time in EPL history. Moreover, with the new format, the tournament surpassed all last year's events in the series by total watch time.
The Swiss Stage of ESL Pro League Season 21 featured some exciting matches: the Chinese team TyLoo pulled off an unexpected win over Eternal Fire, while the Portuguese squad SAW defeated Natus Vincere. Despite these upsets, both Eternal Fire and Natus Vincere managed to make it to the playoffs. One team that didn’t make it to the final stage was Team Falcons. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač’s team has faced some inconsistency lately: just last month, they reached the final at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, but at ESL Pro League Season 21, they fell short of the top 8.
The ESL Pro League Season 21 playoff bracket played out without any major surprises: all the top teams in the world were represented, except for FaZe Clan, which didn’t compete in the tournament. On their road to the final, Team Vitality triumphed over Team Liquid and The Mongolz, while MOUZ took down G2 Esports and Team Spirit.

The final was expected to be a thrilling matchup, especially since Team Vitality was in top form after their win at IEM Katowice 2025. As for MOUZ, the ESL Pro League series is practically their ‘home turf’: the European team took home the title in both ESL Pro League Season 18 and Season 19, and just recently claimed the championship at PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025. Despite this impressive track record, the final ended up being one-sided: Team Vitality dominated, winning 3-0 and securing their second championship title of 2025.
ESL Pro League Season 21 Viewership Statistics

ESL Pro League Season 21 generated over 28,000,000 Hours Watched, a slight increase from the previous season, despite a decrease in the number of participants. The average viewership per match reached 211,310, setting a new record for the highest viewership in ESL Pro League history. The previous record was held by ESL Pro League Season 20, with 174,195 viewers.

Most Popular ESL Pro League Seasons by Average Viewership
ESL Pro League Season 21 reached a peak viewership of 571,008 viewers, ranking it third in the series and third in 2025 so far. The most-popular match of the tournament was the Semifinal between Team Spirit and MOUZ, with the Grand Final coming in third in terms of viewership.
The most popular team in ESL Pro League Season 21 based on average viewership per match was Team Spirit: they outperformed the finalists thanks to a strong Russian-speaking community casting.
The peak viewership for ESL Pro League Season 21 could have been much higher, but the finalists' lineup limited its potential. After Team Spirit’s elimination, Russian-speaking viewership dropped significantly. For instance, Dmitry "dmitry_lixxx" Likhanov’s stream peaked at 94,530 viewers during the Semifinals but only reached 33,319 in the Grand Final. A similar decline was seen on Igor "sl4m" Sopov’s channel, another popular Russian-speaking streamer. The official Paragon studio channel also experienced a slight dip, while only Vyacheslav "buster" Leont'ev managed to maintain his audience at the same level.
English-speaking viewership was also lower at this season's final. While last season’s Grand Final peaked at 316,847 English-speaking viewers, this year’s final saw a 36% decline, with official ESL channels being the most affected. What’s important, though, is that the decline was only in peak viewership, while the average number of English-speaking viewers actually saw a slight increase compared to last season. The issue is that Team Vitality and MOUZ just aren’t able to attract as many English-speaking viewers as teams like G2 Esports or FaZe Clan. Furthermore, the final was very one-sided, with little drama, which also impacted viewer interest.

Most Popular Counter-Strike Tournaments of 2025
ESL Pro League Season 21 ranked as the third most popular tournament of 2025 so far, coming in behind only IEM Katowice 2025 and BLAST Premier Bounty Season 1 2025. Interestingly, Team Spirit played in the most-popular matches of all three top tournaments, underscoring the significant impact of Russian-language broadcasts on the overall tournament statistics.
The next major Counter-Strike tournament is BLAST Open Spring 2025, happening from March 17 to 30 in Lisbon and Copenhagen. You can follow the tournament’s progress on the Esports Charts coverage page.
