FaZe’s matches featuring s1mple drew more viewers than the IEM Dallas 2025 grand final

May 26, 2025 5 min read

Counter-Strike fans spent the weekend glued to the final matches of IEM Dallas 2025. The tournament stood out not just for Oleksandr ‘’s1mple’’ Kostyljev's return to the pro scene, but also for yet another championship win by Team Vitality. This season, the French powerhouse looks practically unstoppable.

The final matches of IEM Dallas 2025 were held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Most of the top teams cruised through to the playoffs, but the real surprise of the group stage was GamerLegion. Led by Erik “ztr” Gustafsson, the squad couldn’t overcome Team Vitality but delivered strong performances against both FURIA and G2 Esports, knocking them out of the tournament.

FaZe Clan captured the attention of thousands of fans with a high-profile stand-in: s1mple, the former Natus Vincere AWPer, joined the roster on loan just ahead of the tournament. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t show its full potential in Dallas, as yet another roster change had to be made at the last minute. Brazilian player Felipe ‘’skullz’’ Medeiros filled in for Håvard ‘’rain’’ Nygaard, who missed the event to celebrate the birth of his second child.

The playoffs featured the usual suspects dominating the 2025 season: The Mongolz, Team Falcons, MOUZ, and Team Vitality (except for Team Spirit, who skipped the Dallas tournament to rest ahead of the Major). The grand final came down to MOUZ and Vitality: once again. But this time, it wasn’t even close. Team Vitality cruised to a dominant 3:0 victory, claiming their sixth straight championship title of the year, with an incredible three of those finals wins coming against MOUZ.

The last time MOUZ beat Team Vitality was back in October 2024 at IEM Rio. Since then, the French squad has won seven straight official matches against them and is currently riding an incredible 30-match win streak. For more details on their head-to-head history, check out the match page on Esports Charts.

IEM Dallas 2025 was the last big tournament before the Major. The BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 kicks off on June 3rd in the U.S., featuring the world’s top Counter-Strike teams. Viewership statistics of IEM Dallas 2025

IEM Dallas 2025 racked up over 18.9 million Hours Watched, a 58% increase compared to last year’s event. Peak viewership also climbed 11%, hitting 914,887 concurrent viewers. Interestingly, the viewership peak didn’t happen during the grand final but during the group stage, when FaZe faced HEROIC and GamerLegion took on FURIA at the same time.

One notable point is the most popular matches at IEM Dallas 2025: top spots weren’t playoff games but two FaZe matches from the group stage, and the huge interest was clearly thanks to s1mple’s presence. The grand final between MOUZ and Team Vitality came in third on the list of the tournament’s most popular matches.

The ranking of the most popular teams also brought some surprises. Two teams that didn’t even reach the playoffs made it into the top 5 for total hours watched. Even more impressive, one of them stood out as the undisputed leader in average viewers per match: any guesses which team that was?

The most popular channel during IEM Dallas 2025 was Russian-language community caster Vadim ‘’evelone2004’’ Kozakov, who hit a peak of 216,851 concurrent viewers while streaming the FaZe vs. Team Liquid match. This marked the second biggest broadcast in his channel’s history. As usual, popular streamers like Alexandre ‘’Gaules’’ Chiqueta, Mark ‘’OhnePixel’’ Zimmermann, Dmitry ‘’dmitry_lixxx’’ Likhanov, and Vyacheslav ‘’buster’’ Leont'ev drew large crowds as well. The official ESL channels led in total Hours Watched.

Most popular Counter-Strike tournaments in 2025

IEM Dallas 2025 was the most popular tournament in the history of IEM Dallas events. It also made the top 5 list of the most-popular Counter-Strike tournaments of 2025. However, it’s expected to slip a few places soon with the Austin Major and other big events on the horizon.
