Esports World Cup 2025 ends among most-watched Teamfight Tactics events
The Esports World Cup 2025 for Teamfight Tactics concluded on August 15 as one of the game's ten most-watched tournaments, spurred by a Chinese win that maintained the country's dominance in this S-Tier event. It brought together the world's 16 best teams as they battled for a prize pool of $500,000, the second-highest purse in the strategy auto-battler's history, and vital Club Championship points.
The Grand Final pitted the Chinese powerhouse Weibo Gaming against Virtus.pro, fielding a Vietnamese roster. The former proved too strong, completing a near-flawless run during TFT at EWC 25; it advanced from the Group Stage undefeated and dropped only two games in the playoffs, one each to AEGIS and Virtus.pro.

Interestingly, three of the event's five most popular games were played during the Group Stage, with the finals coming in fourth. The most popular match was the semifinals between South Korean favorite T1 and APAC underdog Virtus.pro, which reached 53,440 Peak Viewers (PV) as the latter won 2:0.
However, the tournament peak was reached during the clash between Team Falcons and Virtus.pro. The overall viewership for any single game was the highest during this battle, which hit 60,892 PV, almost double the figure reached at the Teamfight Tactics x Esports World Cup 2024. Also, the 2025 event reached over 130% more viewers on average than last year's edition.

One significant reason for this surge was that home fans turned out in droves to support Team Falcons. The team was battling to retain its Club Championship, and a good showing here could have sealed the deal a week early. Unfortunately, the Saudi Arabian esports organization lost 0:2 and was relegated to the Elimination Match, which it also lost to head home early.
With another Saudi-based org, Twisted Minds, also in action, the interest among home fans meant that Arabic enjoyed a big growth in viewership from the 2024 edition. It rose by almost 935% in watch time, while the language's peak concurrent viewership spiked even higher, leaping upwards by 2322%.

Korea and Vietnam were also crucial to the Esports World Cup 2025 for Teamfight Tactics, performing much better than last year. They were two of the three top languages, as viewers followed the exploits of sides like T1 and Virtus.pro. Both sides notched their best S-Tier finishes in the Squads, i.e., the format where each team consists of two players.
The EWC 2025 x TFT accumulated 1.3 million Hours Watched (HW), making it the title's ninth-most-watched tournament ever. When only looking at competitive events, i.e., excluding content creator and influencer-led tournaments like Twitch Rivals, it jumps up a place to finish within the top eight, with most of these entries coming from 2023 onwards.

Overall, it was a decent run for Teamfight Tactics at the Esports World Cup 2025. While no major viewership milestones were created, the hype around the two home sides and the performance of sides from Korea and Vietnam helped it notch decent audience numbers.
Club Championship update
With its TFT championship victory, Weibo Gaming climbed to eighth place in the Club Championship standings with 1,950 points. The Chinese club became the 17th unique team to claim a title this year and still has a strong chance of climbing higher in the rankings as it competes in Street Fighter 6 next week.

Despite finishing as runners-up for the second time at the EWC 2025, Virtus.pro retained fourth place with 3,150 points. The Eastern European club has yet to secure an event win, leaving it ineligible for the overall Club Championship title. It will look to right this wrong and climb the leaderboard in the three competitions during Week 7.
Week 7, which will be the final one for this year's Esports World Cup, will see action in three games: Counter-Strike, Street Fighter 6, and CrossFire. There's still a lot at stake, including the prestigious Club Championship, and readers can follow all the action on the Esports Charts EWC page right here.
