Teamfight Tactics x Esports World Cup 2024 Grand Final drew half as many viewers as the opening day
The Teamfight Tactics tournament at the Esports World Cup 2024 in Saudi Arabia concluded, making it the largest prize pool event in the history of the game. However, despite its record prize money, it fell short of expectations in terms of live viewership, ranking only tenth in Peak Viewers among all TFT tournaments in 2024.
The championship featured 16 teams, including those invited based on regional rankings and recent performances in major TFT tournaments. Among the competing teams were prominent organizations like Karmine Corp, Team Vitality, Natus Vincere, and Team Falcons.
The top teams in the group stage were Wolves Esports, Team Vitality, T1, and Toronto Ultra. In a surprising turn of events, Karmine Corp and Fnatic, both recently high performers in the Inkborn Fables Tactician's Crown (the most popular TFT tournament of 2024), did not advance to the playoffs.
In the playoffs, Wolves Esports, a Chinese team formerly known as DaBao Gaming, emerged as the standout performers. They progressed through the tournament by defeating Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, and T1, losing only one game across three series. For their victory, the Wolves Esports players will receive $200,000, marking the largest prize they have ever won in their careers.
Esports World Cup 2024 Viewership Results

The Teamfight Tactics tournament at the Esports World Cup 2024 amassed over 425,000 Hours Watched, making it the sixth most-watched TFT tournament of the year. Despite this, its peak viewership was just under 35,000, placing it tenth for peak online numbers in 2024.
The most-watched match of the tournament was the group stage clash between Karmine Corp and Team Vitality, which took place on the first day. This match attracted twice as many viewers as any other, largely due to a community broadcast by kamet0, a popular French streamer and co-owner of Karmine Corp. Although kamet0’s stream covered only 1.5 hours of the total 32.5 tournament hours, it achieved the highest audience reach of the event.

Most popular teams at Teamfight Tactics x Esports World Cup 2024
In contrast, the grand final between Wolves Esports and T1 drew only 14,700 viewers at its peak. Lower viewership was partly due to time zone differences, as the match started late in South Korea and China. Additionally, the lack of major Asian community casters and limited audience reach on streaming platforms contributed to the modest viewership numbers. For example, the Korean-language broadcast on AfreecaTV was limited to two official channels, with peak viewership under 2,000. The Chinese-language broadcast, hosted by community caster greentea, peaked at around 2,500 viewers.
The Teamfight Tactics tournament is just one of many events at the Esports World Cup 2024. Upcoming championships for StarCraft II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and EA Sports FC will begin in Riyadh in the coming days. By the end of August, winners in PUBG: Battlegrounds, Rocket League, Tekken 8, and Rennsport will also be announced.
