Mar 27, 2023 2 min read

The Smash Ultimate Summit 6 recently came to an end, and it might likely signal the conclusion of a highly-lauded era for competitive Super Smash Bros. That definitely played a part in it creating viewership records from among the six editions of the event held so far.

As things stand, it looks set to be the final competition that Beyond The Summit produced before closing the curtains on its run. And the premier esports production company and facility didn’t hold back, bringing legends like MkLeo, Tweek, Sparg0, acola, and Skyjay to the BTS studio.

In fact, the latter was part of all three most viewed games at the Smash Ultimate Summit 6. His matches against Karmine Corp’s Kurama (107K PV) and Crazy Raccoon’s ProtoBanham (105K PV) took up the following two podium places.

It helped that acola won the whole thing, beating Tweek (Luminosity Gaming) in the Grand Finals 6-3 to clinch the title. Big D finished third, having lost to the eventual winner 3-0 in the Losers Finals.

When it comes to the basic stats, the event’s PV and HW are new records for the Ultimate Summit series, while the last stat fell behind only the previous edition. This shows how much fans invested in the tournament knowing it could end up being the final one they got to see for some time.

After all, Beyond The Summit had announced at the end of February that it would close its doors after Smash Ultimate Summit 6.

While fans will be unhappy to see Beyond The Summit ride into the sunset after making such a difference to the Super Smash Bros. scene, that the company bowed out on a high with the Smash Ultimate Summit 6 will have warmed their hearts.
