The three-day FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals tournament was held at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona in mid-October, where eight teams competed for a prize pool of $150K. The matches were broadcast in Portuguese on the Gaules' channel, Brazil's most popular streamer. It was his streaming shows that helped the event to show impressive viewership statistics. In a new article, Esports Charts sums up the final tournament of FiReLEAGUE in 2022.

The FiReLEAGUE series is organized by FiReSPORTS, a tournament operator with the main goal of developing esports in Latin America. In 2022, eight CS:GO tournaments were held as part of the series. FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals featured qualification winners from Europe, North America and Argentina, as well as teams from Brazil, invited by the organizers. Team One eSports, the North American qualifiers champion, was unable to participate in the tournament, so Team Spirit took its place.

After inviting Team Spirit (Top 12 team in the world) to the tournament, the organizers greatly reduced the chances of any other team to win. The other participants of the event are far behind in the world ranking of teams according to HLTV. As a result, Team Spirit confidently defeated WINDINGO and 9z Team 2-0, and then defeated paiN Gaming in the Grand Final with a score of 2-1 and earned $100K. paiN received $30K for second place, Imperial Esports and 9z Team (3-4 place) received $7K each, and the other teams (5-8 places) received $1.5K each.

Viewership Statistics

FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals broadcasts totaled more than 1.6 million Hours Watched and drew 61.2K Average Viewers. The event reached nearly 128.3K Peak Viewers at the semifinal between paiN and Imperial. At the same time, the Grand Final between paiN and Team Spirit drew only 61.4K PV and did not make it into the Top 5 matches of the tournament by this metric.

The most popular teams of the tournament are the Brazilian teams Imperial Esports, paiN Gaming, Isurus and MIBR, while Team Spirit took the second-to-last place, surpassing only Argentina's WINDINGO in terms of AV. The decision to invite Team Spirit to the tournament was not a bad idea in terms of increasing the competition level, but the appearance of a team that was not too interesting for the Brazilian viewers in the Grand Final had a negative impact on the viewership statistics.

As it was mentioned above, the viewership statistics of the tournament is a huge merit of Gaules' broadcasts. The Brazilian streamer covered almost all the matches of the tournament with the exception of the Team Spirit quarterfinal against WINDINGO. Gaules' broadcasts accounted for 79% of the FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals' HW with 111.5K PV watching the paiN vs Imperial match on his channel. The channel of the former Argentine player forg1 and the official FiReLEAGUEtv tournament channel also makes into the Top 3 by HW, while forg1 and the Russian-language channel csgo_mc2 rounds out the Top 3 by PV.

FiReLEAGUE 2022: Global Finals did not become the most popular tournament in the series, losing to FiReLEAGUE Latin Power Spring 2022 by all viewership metrics. It should be noted that Gaules also covered that tournament, and his contribution to the HW of the event at that time was about 90%. As we can see, the viewership statistics of the FiReLEAGUE tournaments directly depend on the Gaules broadcasts and the participation of the famous Brazilian teams. We can assert that if two teams from Brazil had faced off in the decisive match of the Global Finals (like in Latin Power Spring 2022), the Peak Viewers number of the tournament would have been even bigger.
