Halo World Championship 2023 became the discipline's second most popular event ever

The Halo World Championship 2023 (boasting a $1M prize pool) has come and gone, and with that, the sport has its newest world champion — FaZe Clan. The stellar performances of high-profile sides and the continuous participation of top content creators in live streaming the matches meant that it became one of the most successful events in the discipline ever.

In the Grand Final of the Championship Bracket, FaZe Clan eased past OpTic Gaming 4:2, 4:0 to clinch its maiden world title and end a superb season on a high. The winner was $400K richer after the dust had settled, with the runner-up taking home a not-so-paltry $220K to somewhat gloss over what will surely be considered a painful loss for the tournament favorites.

Detailed statistics on all major esports tournaments, including significant series like the Halo World Championship 2023, are available with the Esports Charts PRO subscription, the benefits of which can be checked here.

One of the usual suspects at these big-ticket Halo tournaments was by far the most followed side at the Halo World Championship 2023 by average concurrent viewers. It also enjoyed quite a large lead over the next best side, although it has to be said that this leaderboard will shock very few regular fans of the esport

Twitch continued to be the favored platform for fans to catch all the live action, thanks to the presence of famous content creators like lvthalo, shotzzy, and zoomaa. Similarly, English was the most preferred language, with the only entry to create any kind of impact in the watch hours chart being Spanish.

Most successful streamers to live broadcast the Halo World Championship 2023

Elaborating on the streamers, apart from the official channels that as usual contributed heavily to the numbers, there were a lot of prominent Halo broadcasters who helped attract millions of viewers. Even names that are associated with other games, like tarik, played a part in making this tournament a grand success. Of course, with quite a few former Call of Duty pros now appearing in the Halo professional scene, there were many content creators of the legendary franchise who also tuned in to catch up on proceedings.

There was also a Kick name in there, with xcapim360 — known for playing titles like Lies of P, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and L.A. Noire — covering a large portion of the action and managing to enter the overall top 20 in terms of watch hours. In fact, doing so helped the Brazilian achieve his best viewership stats for a month and a half, showing how much demand there was for news and clips from the tournament.

The Halo World Championship 2023 ended as the second most popular tournament in the discipline of all time, behind only the HCS Kickoff Major Raleigh 2021. This means it has become the most followed world event of all time, which is significant motivation for the organizers to continue innovating and a big thumbs up to the tweaked format for the season that was seen this year.

With the Halo Championship Series 2024 also confirmed, teams will head into the break post-season break looking to work on the lessons they learned this year and improve their rosters and gameplay ahead of fresher challenges. Halo Infinite has also seen a surge in popularity ahead of the well-received arrival of its fifth season, so fans can look forward to a bright 2024, with details about the various majors and the world championship to be revealed over time.
