Hearthstone Masters Tour 2024 Spring hits higher watch time than last World Championship
Hearthstone Masters Tour 2024 Spring was held online from April 12 to 14, pitting 16 top players from the February and March Ladder rankings against each other. A combination of factors helped it emerge as one of the series’ most popular competitions in years and achieve a higher watch time than last year’s world championship.
After three days of intense action, it was Uikyou who swept to a commanding 3:0 win over PRTHNCA in the Finals of the Playoffs to emerge as the champion. Alongside sealing the two invites to the Hearthstone World Championship 2024, these two took home $10,000 and $8,000, respectively, out of a total prize pool of $50,000.

Hearthstone Masters Tour 2024 Spring recorded 34.1K Peak Viewers during the Playoffs Quarterfinals between MoleStar and Uikyou. This cross-border fight between America and Canada's finest was edged by the latter 3:2 after five riveting rounds.
Intriguingly, all the entries on the list of five most popular matches notched within 4,000 viewers of each other. It highlighted just how close the action was and how much interest audiences had in seeing which of the top eight players battling under a single-elimination bracket in the knockouts would prevail.
Two players from the same nation ended as the two most popular names when looking at average online viewership. With many of the Playoffs matches also going down to the final Conquest, viewer engagement reached such a high that this Hearthstone tournament registered 498.7K Hours Watched and 22.6K Average Viewers over an on-air time of 22 hours.

What undoubtedly helped it reach some of the highest audience figures in years (besides the obvious fact that the game’s esports is back on Twitch) was the availability of drops. Fans who tuned in to the official channel to catch the action live were rewarded with up to three Whizbang's Workshop packs. This was in keeping with Whizbang’s Workshop, the newest expansion that celebrated ten years of Hearthstone.
With the event also being broadcast on both Twitch and YouTube, apart from Afreeca TV, the extra exposure did wonders in bringing in newer eyes to the product. With co-streaming also available, 21 channels live-streamed the games, with renowned Hearthstone streamer FenoHS ending as the most successful one.

Like last year, when the two Masters Tour events pushed the game to heights seen pre-pandemic, this year's first such endeavor has done the same. In fact, it has outperformed the former two and even hit a higher watch time than the Hearthstone World Championship 2023, with the peak concurrent viewership also being pretty close.
When looking at the Hearthstone Masters Tour, the Spring 2024 tournament finished as the fourth most viewed and fifth most popular one. It was also the series’ most popular event in almost five years, not counting the world championship.

Blizzard Entertainment's decision to return to the purple platform last year has continued to pay dividends; with audiences being rewarded via drops and being allowed to watch the action alongside their favorite creators, this competition has been an undoubted success, getting the year off to a fabulous start.
Also worth mentioning is the organizer's decision to add an extra day of action to events on the tour, bringing the total to three. This helped add more matches to the schedule, keeping fans hooked to the streaming action for longer and seeing the watch time shoot up as a result.
It is not an exaggeration to say that Hearthstone has been enjoying a purple patch over the past few years. With a few more Masters Tour tournaments to come ahead of the world championship, fans can expect things to get even better.
