The event will emanate from the Rio Centro Convention (Knockout Stage) and the Carioca Arena 1 (Point Rush & Grand Finals) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 8 to 24.
The best Free Fire 18 teams from across the world, consisting of regions like SEA, LATAM, Brazil, and MEA/Pakistan, will be joined by the Esports World Cup winner. These sides will battle it out for a prize pool of $1 million, with the winner taking home a cool $300,000.

Free Fire World Series history
The FFWS was launched five years back to replace the Free Fire World Cup 2019, the first and only edition held so far. Its inaugural edition was held in November 2019, with the 2020 iterations cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and after a couple of years of becoming a bi-yearly attraction, it returned to being an annual spectacle in 2023.
So far, there have been five editions of the Free Fire World Series, with the Singapore 2021 iteration remaining the most popular. It is also the game's top competition by peak concurrent viewership and held the overall esports record till last year's LoL Worlds.

A quick look at the top events in the series shows that the game enjoyed its heyday during the lockdown era. Over the past few years, Free Fire has become more of a niche discipline with a stable viewership base, but the peak of its audience reach seems to have passed.
One reason is the sheer amount of competition in the shooting genre, with the perfect example being PUBG Mobile. Another mobile esports BR shooter, its version of the world championship, the PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2024, has already begun and will run concurrently with the FFWS - Global Finals 2024.

The PMGC 2024 is much longer as well, with its Grand Final scheduled for December 8, two weeks after the end of Free Fire's top event. This will mean these two competitions will be vying for a portion of the same audience base, and it remains to be seen which competition viewers give more importance to.
